If this is the reason for the search, thats probably not a defense he wants to rely on. He doesnt have that authority after he leaves the Presidency, and even if documents are classified, he is not the custodian in his personal capacity. There could also be an issue that he didn't turn over records, classified or not, to the archives as required by law and took them with him instead.

While he's in office, he can declassify a document. But if it's classified when the presidency ends, it's too late for him to declassify it.

People here love Fetterman, he is viewed as “one of us” in western PA. Why would they, or should they, trade him in for a fake TV personality doctor?
