Raiding the home of a former President isn't how this works.

I don't know what they're searching for, I don't know what their warrant was based on, but if they legitimately had enough to get a warrant, it's exactly how it's supposed to work. If they didnt have enough legitimate evidence to get a warrant, it isn't how it works. The fact that he is the former president doesn't excuse him if there were legitimate grounds.
