Few thoughts

I don't know. He may want him to fight through whatever. But if he isn't aware of trae getting worn down, trae needs to open his mouth and communicate what helps him be his best at gametime. He needs to be able to go to the coach and have that conversation about every player. You don't have to be a great pg to do those things that make you a leader.

He mentioned it post game. Martin said traes legs are finally under him and they need to keep it that way.

Sparty has brought up an issue that makes a lot of sense to me. If he is correct then my opinion of the golden issues is far from correct but I think he might be on to something. Do you buy that golden has been worn down and caused the lull in both years under martin?

Yea Sparty has been about this for awhile, not anything new...the way golden has played the last 3 games after getting rest really seems to support that theory.

He seems to think that martin relaxes his practice style and/or schedule late in the year. Might also explain last years finish.

From miss st to Kentucky golden scored 5 or less points in 4 of 6 games last year. Following that stretch he didn't start against Georgia.

Perhaps you should research things a little further before you are so quick to assume your expert opinion is always spot on.

Maybe you should research. Those 4 games were UK x2 (not really a lull to be handled by one of the best defenses in the country). Vandy at Memorial (the entire team stunk that up) and UConn which UT won. Golden also had 3 games in the first 10 games of the season where he didn't score double digits (against vastly inferior competition). We're those games mid-season lulls too?

So golden isn't expected to play well when we play good opponents???

That my friend is a losing attitude!

What a foolish post here!! Golden scores 5pts or less in 4 of 6 games and your best response is he scored less than 10pts in 3 of 10 games in another stretch. Comparing apples to oranges my friend

I didn't say that. And I don't think we're friends.

I simply point out that his lull was not in a vacuum. UT played opponents that were either physically dominate at the PG position (almost every position actually) in UK, a team that was on a roll and gets more than its share of home cooking in Vandy and another team in UConn where Golden was probably playing a more physically gift guy but still managed to lead his team to victory

You however ignored his early season struggles against such powerhouses as Austin Peay, College of Charleston, and UNCA during the first 10 games of the season. Again, we're those 3 games during the first 10 games a mid-season lull too?

I also seriously doubt that not starting Golden and then letting him play 28 minutes against Georgia provided any kind of the rest you seem to have decided he needs mid-season.

Not sure how its apples to oranges but okay. If he scores single digits in three straight games early on the season that's excusable but having 4 single digit scoring games vs very good competition during the middle of the season is because Martin practiced them to hard. So he be benches Golden 3 days after a bad performance against Kentucky, plays him 28 minutes anyway and BOOM he's now well rested and goes on to finish the season out strong.

Sure thing.

Not one post has said that but then again I wouldn't expect you to get your head out of the sand long enough to question there might be a reason we have had an rpi of 100 the last two season heading into February.

Multiple posts from you have said that. And what does this discussion with Goldens supposed back to back mid season lulls have to do with back to back sub 100 RPI's. last years terrible RPI was sealed and delivered 10 games into the season.

Find one post where I said him not starting gave him the rest he needed to get his legs back???

Going to be a hell of lot tougher succeeding in this task than expecting golden to play well against top teams.

Point 1: yes he did have a midseason lull last year.

Perhaps Sparty is on to something. The wear and tear of the preseason and first 1/3 of the games takes its toll on golden. It isn't until the late season when martin relaxes his practice style that he gets his legs back.

Here is one time you reference rest as the solution to Goldens lull.
