I forgot about that part. He also said he had a master's degree from a school that didn't even exist when in actuality he had taken two classes from a different school, which is what I remembered.

Yep.

His resume had been unchanged for several years (meaning Georgia Tech and other previous employers never bothered to investigate). It said he lettered 3 years at New Hampshire, but it turns out he never actually played in a game. I guess he was on the team but probably just a walk-on or scout team guy.

He tried to resign from ND after that but they didn't accept. It wasn't until the Master's Degree lie that they made him resign.

Of course Kiffin didn't want Bryce Petty at UT.

Because he saw Petty for what he is: a system QB who will never accomplish anything in a real pro-style offense.

He's no better than the litany of Mike Leach QBs who put up big numbers in his system, then tried to go pro only to flop immediately. Neither Petty nor Boyd will ever start a game in the NFL.

The NFL and college are two different games. Tim Tebow and Vince Young couldn't play in the NFL either.

It doesn't matter what you think they'll do in the pros, as long as they do what you want out of them while in college.

I know I'd like to have him on our squad right now.

You're missing the point. He would've had to run a pro-style offense had he come to UT. Sure, he may have been better than Worley, but that doesn't mean he would've put up Heisman-esque numbers, or even good numbers. Until I see him produce in a pro-style offense, I will see him as nothing more than a product of a system.

I don't think you're understanding my point. I don't care if he would've put up Heisman like numbers, I don't care that you think he wouldn't succeed in a pro-style offense, I'm simply saying he would've been much better than what we have now no matter what offense we're running.
