There has to be a story behind that Georgie.

Gimme the scoop.

As far as the game... Utah played as everybody thought they did. But Pittsburgh is not a real test... In fact, I think the only reason they're ranked is that nobody wanted to hear the outrage of a nonranked team in a BCS bowl.

I am just bummed out that nobody will know whether or not Utah was the real deal this season. Freakin' Big East.

TAKE AWAY THE BIG LEAST'S AUTOMATIC BID! NOW!!!

TAKE AWAY THE BIG LEAST'S AUTOMATIC BID! NOW!!!

The only reason the Big Least had a BCS bid anyway was so that they could give an 8-3 and #20 Miami a free pass into a BCS bowl.

Now I agree that they shouldn't have an automatic bid, but the BCS made their bed, and it's kinda funny to see them have to sleep in it now :bash:

After seeing Utah for the first time this year, I think they could play with most anybody in the country. Maybe not the big three of USC, OU, or AU, but who knows.

The SEC better get ready. Meyer's style is so wide open, he makes the fun & gun look conservative.

The SEC will always be ready. Urban Meyers come and go with the wind, but Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, and the rest are here to stay.

I hate to simplify things, but to me all it looked like they do is run the inside/outside option and a myriad of shuttle passes and throw deep every so often to back up the DB's. A defensive scheme similar to what we had against A&M would work well against Suburban Florida.

Florida fans criticized Fedora for making Chris Leak run the option, looks like now it's going to be a major part of their offense.

Utah is a really good team!!!And i don't think they will be the same without Urban next year!!!

Utah is good, I will tell you again what makes them great. It is nothing more than a strength of schedule that ranks 117 out of 117 and a patsy bowl game. There are a lot of QB's who could have Alex Smith's numbers if they had a little talent and the defenses that he has played.

Utah's opponents defensive ranking....out of 117 teams.

Texas A&M - 59

Arizona- 56

Utah State- 75

Air Force - 95

New Mexico - 21

North Carolina - 109

San Diego State - 53

UNLV - 62

Colorado State - 91

Wyoming - 77

Brigham Young - 61

Pitt - 76

They have not played a top 50 defense this whole season.

And we all would have liked to see them play one if they are the real deal... It is not their fault for this. It's the NCAA's for realizing no team from the Big Least deserved a bowl spot. That was apparent half way through the season.

Oops, my bad, they have played one top 50 defense against New Mexico. I would have liked to see them play Michigan, Texas or Auburn. But so goes life.

But they can't change the rules half way through the season. Only NASCAR is allowed to do that :D

Milo, it's the BCS period who's at fault for giving the automatic bids for confrence championships in certain confrences imo. If they want to use this system instead of a playoff, they should give the BCS bids to the top 8 teams regardless of confrence. That way you don't wind up with #20 in the Fiesta and #4 in the Holiday.

I think the ref got knocked down pretty hard and then later on, sometime in the late 3rd/early 4th quarter, they brought an alternate referee into the game to take over for him.

I'd have left too. That was probably the worst BCS game I've ever seen.

I will have to say though, the Screen pass and lateral play that Utah scored on may have been one of the neatest trick plays I've ever seen.

Number 1) the NCAA has nothing to do with bowls, the BCS or post season play in D-1 MyBloodRunnethOrange and 2) if Urban Meyer brings that pseudo-option, run and shoot offense to Florida Chris Leak won't last 3 ball games. That junk he ran last night is very similar too what Watson Brown ran at Vandy back in the early 80's. You can't play lateral/side to side football in the fastest conference in the land. Urban coached at Bowling Green and Utah and you guys are worried? The SEC is where the men and the boys are seperated and Urban hasn't hit his coaching puberty yet!

I agree Don. I posted something like this last night. There's a reason the option went out of style in the SEC. When those Defensive Ends start crashing down and Chris Leak gets decapitated on a pitch by an outside LB with 4.6 speed, he's going to be begging Urban to put a Tight End and Fullback into the game.

The Utah offense reminds me a lot of what Jim Donnan tried to run at Georgia. I'll never forget the '98 GA game. I thought Al Wilson was going to kill poor Quincy Carter.

You are correct GaVol. Meyer is used to the SLOW northern football at ND or the no athlete ball at BG and Utah. Different level in the sunshine state. Imagine that offense against the 'Canes. Wow that would be suicide.

Who said he's gonna run it? I doubt he will do that well anyways... I think the SEC East will be the most top heavy division in the country next year, with Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina all looking towards potentially good seasons.

Meyer certainly has his work cut out for him.

he has run it everywhere he has coached. why would he change? he will change when he realizes it will not work.
