It's just lazy work by the pollsters. They took the four teams in the playoffs and ranked them. Since GA and TCU were in the championship game, they automatically got #1 & # 2. Alabama was #5 before and TN #6, so why change it, since they both won, and right on down the line. Fact is, #1 is all that matters at this point.

This is why the playoff system is flawed.
TCU had the biggest beat down and will be remembered as the #2 team.
Tennessee with a huge decisive win in the Orange Bowl should have moved up a minimum to #3.

Go back to 1985
Miami had a chance to move up to #1 and Tennessee destroyed them and were rewarded going #8 to #4
It meant something and gave us a sense of pride.
Miami went from #2 to #9 and that team would have run circles around TCU.

5 vs 6.

I don't care. All we had to do was beat South Carolina and we would have been top 4 guaranteed.

5 vs 6 is nothing.
We're signing elite classes.
Getting studs in the transfer portal.

We beat Alabama ONE damn time in the past 16 years!! Do it again next season!

There's ZERO reason to be negative about anything after an 11-2 record thrashing the ACC Champs to stamp the season.

Using the eyeball method, I'd have it:
1-UGA
2-OSU
3-UT
4-Bama
5-TCU
6-Michigan

Why don't they just go ahead and issue the final poll results for the 2023 season too since the results of games obviously don't mean anything?

Perfect, TCU is embarrassed, and they get #2 just because. Here is your 2nd Place trophy, CFB is worse than politics when it comes to common sense.
