Final Coaches Poll (1/10/2023)

They will. Georgia will be ranked preseason #1 and with their easy 2023 schedule they will remain #1 entering the 2023 playoffs.

Maybe, but the trip to Knoxville will not be a cakewalk.

TCU should have sunk like a stone after that no show performance.

Like that better than theirs, but TCU might still be rated too high

Using the eyeball method, I'd have it:
1-UGA
2-OSU
3-UT
4-Bama
5-TCU
6-Michigan
I understand the Vols over bama but if you do that because of head to head then Michigan should definitely be over OSU with one less loss and absolutely killing them on their field.

I'm just waiting on the ones who pulled for Georgia "because it helps us in the final rankings ", explain how it helped us. We're in the exact spot we were.

Complete garbage poll. TCU loses their conference championship game, gets absolutely blown out in the Championship game (might as well not even shown up) and ends up at #2. Don’t even get me started on Bama being ranked ahead of the VOLS. It’s nauseating. Polls have become an extension of the Heisman sham scam. Both largely meaningless and diluted by people with their own agenda.

2. Ohio State
3. Tennessee
4. Alabama
5. Michigan
6. TCU, holding my nose

Maybe OSU. They did almost beat UGA but lost to the the team TCU beat. Idk.

That's why, in practicality, common opponent games means less than nothing in projecting outcomes. It's only utility is fan speculation.

I root for SEC teams in bowls because the SEC dominance means that when we soon find ourselves winning SEC Titles we will get the respect that we deserve and get the best seed possible. Everyone knows the SEC Champ is always the best team in the country, that can help us down the line.

Not being smart, I'm genuinely asking because I don't understand. You think watching Georgia get the best recruits over us because they won, just so we can say "we're in the SEC!" Is better than Georgia losing, and us getting some of those recruits? That's what's confusing me, cause that's where the best recruits want to go, to teams that win it all. Not just to say they're in the SEC. Also, help me understand why none of you felt this way when Alabama plays for the title? We've had several threads from alleged Tennessee fans explaining why Georgia winning allegedly helps us, it's the sec, etc, but the very same people weren't for Alabama? Same logic, but they're not sticking to their own logic. Again, I'm just asking, because it doesn't make sense.

We beat 4 ranked teams
Bammer beat 2
We beat them
We’re ranked 6th
Makes sense 😏

The good old boys club has spoken and Tennessee--and rest assured this is very statistically-grounded, serious journalism and not some threadbare cliché pulled out of their butts to cover up their biases--"just didn't pass the eye test".

This is why the playoff system is flawed.
TCU had the biggest beat down and will be remembered as the #2 team.
Tennessee with a huge decisive win in the Orange Bowl should have moved up a minimum to #3.

Go back to 1985
Miami had a chance to move up to #1 and Tennessee destroyed them and were rewarded going #8 to #4
It meant something and gave us a sense of pride.
Miami went from #2 to #9 and that team would have run circles around TCU.

That 'Canes team would have run TCU out of the stadium. Kind of like UGA did.
