Final Five Stars in the Class of 16.

JG had no help whatsoever in the UA game. The thing that pisses me off more about these types of events, they base these players on their performance in the UA game, not by their "potential". Anybody can look and see that JG is easily a 5* talent but these so called experts are getting paid the big bucks to think otherwise.

For the lazy....JG dropped 120 spots from #71 to #190.

I think you're confusing the composite with 247's internal ranking. JG is still 71 in the composite, number 1 dual threat.

247's internal rankings this year have been strange. It's possible the dearth of talent in this class at certain positions has confused their analysts.

I know recruiting rankings are important and for the most part great recruiting success means you are winning at a high level (i.e. Bama, Ohio State, Clemson Etc). I tend to look more at which school has offered a player instead of the stars that are attached to their name. UT has had their fair share of highly rated players that did not live up to the hype.

Are people really offended about where our recruits get placed in these rankings? This must be some sort of bragging rights issue or something. Wow!

You can bet recruits pay attention to the rankings. In this age of college football recruiting and the rankings matter. Its no accident that the schools getting the highly ranked guys are winning.

I don't think star rating makes a good player its the heart of the players they have when they get to the college of their choise the work they put in a. a player can have stars and not play a year look at Mckensie he didn't play his senior year and still had 4 or 5 stars depending on where you look.

At this point does any of it matter other than a mythical recruiting national championship? JG gets on campus and tears it up, wins a national championship and a Heisman and no one cares what he was ranked. The difference between a 5 star and high 4 star isn't a big margin.

Rankings are a kind of prediction. 4-5 star guys are predicted to make more of an impact sooner in college. McKenzie didn't need to play his SR year as he had already shown to be one of the best players in the country and the most college ready.

There isn't anything wrong with 3 star guys. They are just expected to need a bit more time to be college ready. Like a Tatum. If he weighed 295 instead of 260 he would be at least a 4 star.

The only reason JG didnt get his fifth star was because of his injury. He absolutely shredded a loaded IMG academy and easily outplayed Shea Patterson head to head. The point is moot anyway. I wouldnt trade JG for any QB in 2016 and that includes Patterson.

I wouldn't trade one for the other either. The services are obviously going to use the all star events for their final rankings. Patterson shined better when the lights came on in the game with the services there. Guarantano struggled at his AA game. Doesn't mean a lot to be honest. I don't think it's crazy though to see a service putting on an event to adjust their rankings based off the results they saw.

Recruiting rankings are all about hype. The more hype the higher the ranking.
