Final Jahmai Mashack appreciation post

I saw the clip of him saying he wanted to win for Barnes... I feel they let the pressure get to them. So much love for the coach it affected their game? He and ZZ were unusually bad (everyone sucked until Gainey played better). Can't help but wonder... if that was the case, shows how incredible of a man Barnes is and that some things are bigger than a game.

If ever there was a "lockdown" corner in basketball Jahmai Mashack was HIM.

You won't find a ton of highlights of big shots or huge scoring performances...but you will find him attached to most SEC players lowlights.

Ask Brandon Miller, held to 15 points on 36.4% FG in a loss at TBA where Bama was held to 59 points who Mashack is...
Ask the Florida Gators held to 44 points at TBA and 24.5% FG who Mashack is...
Ask Koby Brea held to 14.3% FG and 5 points in the Sweet Sixteen if he knows who Mashack is...

When teams play the Vols and you have Mashack guarding you just know 2 things....you're the scorer they're most worried about and you're gonna have a long ass night

DK said practicing against Shack in practice everyday is what really made him the player he was last year. As good as a player as he is I think he is even a better man . I ain’t gonna lie I teared up a little myself listening to him at the post game press interview. What a job his parents did. I’ve never heard a more polite, humble and grateful person.

I mean there is no question what the favorite Mashack moment is. But he was huge in that Bama game even before he took that shot, just played a great stretch of winning basketball to close the game.

Such a humble, gracious, Godly person. Vol nation is thankful for the enjoyment he brought. So well spoken. He will be a leader in whatever he does.
These are pretty much the first words that entered my mind as well. What a great player and role model. This will be the group of guys I remember most in the years to come.

Very good on defense, terrible on offense
Tell me you don’t know have any social skills without saying you don’t have any social skills. We are remembering JM as a person just as much as the player he was. BTW, he did just fine on offense as he was able to drive to the net and get much needed points when we desperately needed them many times. He also hit a lot of timely 3s.

I cried like baby during Mashack's part of that press conference. He will never be forgotten, he is a Tennessee Vols legend, not statistically (besides steals), but for his defense, heart, leadership and really just being an amazing human being. I love the portal guys and the one and dones, but kids like Mashack, that stay here and work their a$$ off for 4 years, always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for giving your all for Tennessee

He gave us little on offense, just a fact. You can talk down to someone all you want
