Americans from sunny California to frozen New England, just can't wait every year to watch those magnificent basketball and football players of Tulsa, Houston, East Carolina, Tulane and Ucon etc., playing in those huge basketball arenas and football stadiums.

Maybe I missed it but what does this have to do with Meme Jackson ?
Also, can we have one thread on this board that doesn't reference uconn ?

This young lady was offered by about every school in the SEC and she was offered by Louisville. If she was so bad other coaches wouldn't' have continued to recruit her after she verbaled to Tennessee! She even said that opposing coaches tried to convince her to go elsewhere because Tennessee is loaded. People keep complaining about Holly and recruiting but there is a lot of things that goes on behind the scenes including negative comments and dirty tactics used to steer recruits. It was also said that a coach copied and pasted a comment from one of Tennessee's message board and sent it to a recruit telling her that's why you should not go to Tennessee. Recruiting can get very dirty and you will be surprised at what level people will go to win over a recruit. Handlers are involved sometimes and they want something in return. You will be shocked. Just saying.
good for her...too bad none of those schools should be on our level and only South Carolina and Louisville are anyway...the rest of the SEC has proved they are still way below

She is a project, similar to AH. She has handles and can defend, her defense is a head of offense.

She will be nice by her junior year, she's a good fit can can 1-3. She's a diamond in the rough, all she need is polishing, confidence.

She lacks confidence on the offensive side of the ball and playing with four other players going d1, made her accept her role as a defensive stopper at guard or wing, and stats don't tell the whole story.

When I saw her play it really seemed like she tried NOT to score.

She won't have much of a learning curve with our offense then. She already has it down pat.

Seriously, is it even possible to miss over half your free throws? That can't be right.

When I saw her play it really seemed like she tried NOT to score. However, in every other aspect I thought she was fantastic. Great vision and passer and very good defender. She'll be a good one for the Lady Vols.

Obviously Geno got to Dangerfield and told her never to pass the ball the Jackson....

How many girls get to college and end up becoming the total opposite player they were in high school? I will leave judgement until I see Jackson play.
Being in GA I've had the opportunity to watch and follow Cooper's career. She's a better guard than Massengale in all aspects except the 3pt ball. I think her career 3pt% is 30 something. So we're definitely going to miss Amass in that regard. She plays fast and sometimes get caught up in situations where she tries to take on three players at a time; that's where lots her turnovers come from. Last thing she needs to do is work on her free throws. Maybe when she gets on campus the coaches can help with her shooting form too. I'm just giving y'all my unbiased opinion from watching her play.

Good coaches develop players to fit the role they want the players to play on the team.
MeMe's team has at least 5 Div 1 players in the senior class from what I understand. Her role appeared to be more defensive stopper than offensive shooter. Others on the team were capable of doing that.

They played as a unit, and achieved their goal.

If she comes here and does that, and gets really good at it, I am happy because we have players who can score.

Well, as CPS always said, "Pessimism and Negativity wins championship" and of course her other famous quote, was that "nothing helps recruiting more than fans dissing and doubting new signees."

So, I hate to break this championship winning round of gloom and doom, but Ms. Jackson looks like a very good athlete with high energy and a lock down defender mindset, not unlike Drea Carter, or Hornbuckle, or going back further Semeka Randall. That is not a bad player to have in the rotation. Next year, a rotation including Carter, Cooper, Jackson, Jones, Graves, and lets hope Tucker could play a very aggressive pressing defense. That is what the Lvs wanted to do this year but became too short handed to do on a regular basis. And the team will have Russell as the final line-up of defense if a team manages to break the press.

A bunch of Ucon and UT fans on this board, telling everyone how bad Jackson is, before she has played one college basketball game. And, of course, the harsh critics of Jackson are all current or former highly-paid coaches who are experts in their evaluations of basketball players.

Agreed. I know everyone has an opinion but why the rush to judgement ? ESPN had Nina Davis ranked #52 in her class and Tiffany Mitchell #46 in hers. How did they turn out ?

And that's SO hilarious to me! Over on the boneyard I've yet to see a LadyVol fan talk down on their 17/18 year old recruits.

It's worse than that. I looked over all the posts in this thread. It looks to me like all the negative posts came from Vol fans. Now that's a shame. Can't give a 17 yr old
a chance. Really depressing.

Have you watched any of her clips on you tube?

One thing I have learned after following recruiting in football and basketball over the years is that many highly rated high school players turn out to be average at best in college. Many three star players turn out to be damn good.

Let's see how Jackson turns out, she may surprise the heck out of everyone.

At 5'11" she can dunk the ball. Maybe she will get a lot of inside looks.:eek:lol:I have see several of her videos and she looks good to me. Let's give her a chance before we bury her. She might surprise the hell out of us.

Yeah, they do a poor job ranking the girls. Not a lot of resources are devoted to scouting them.

The coaching they get in high school is also not always as good as what the guys get so there is more of a chance they can blossom at the next level.

This is where the fact that our recruiting budget is several times as large as most programs should really give us an advantage.

She is very athletic, almost seems to have a man's build and gait. Not very polished in terms of basketball skills but looks very strong.

There is a Utube video of her dunking the ball. The goal might have been lowered, I don't know what circumstances were, it could have been trickery.

Jewell Loyd is shorter, but can play above the rim with alley oops (admittedly layups rather than dunks). If Jackson has good hops, they can use her in similar fashion for such plays.
