Final Thoughts on CCM's first Class.

Not impressed...The class was pretty much rushed and just thrown together and full of guys nobody else really wanted...They might turn out to be decent players but only time will tell...Certainly not excited it....Sorry but its hard to be optimistic about the future of UT basketball.

Everyone thought the same about Lofton. And people thought the same with Pearl after Buzz killed UT....of course it wasn't alive before that anyways so who would've thought the Boston College mascot would become one of the top coaches? Get some optimism dangit! We're gonna be back

No they didn't...Lofton was one of the top players in kentucky...No one ever said anything bad about that kid...Pearl came here under a lot of fanfare...He coached a high octane offensive style which had everybody excited and the results showed his first season coaching the same players Buzz couldn't win with...Now We are moving to a motion offense which is about as exciting as watching paint dry...An yeah we will be back alright...To competing for NIT bids IF We get that lucky....It's not about being optimistic, It's about reality....Sometimes you have to take off the orange and white glasses and let it all sink in...If you can't see the state of this programs future then I don't know what to tell you..I HOPE it gets better but I just don't see it happening....Sorry for the negativity but it is what it is. :hmm:

While I might understand your attempt at "realism" I think you might misremember...Lofton was turned down by most big time programs and fell in our lap...aren't we glad he did...Pearl was a successful mid major coach with NO ONE really knowing what to expect...Now your assessment of the future certainly may turn out to be true but the beautiful thing is you are like me...YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE FOR WHAT OUR FUTURE HOLDS...but the orange and white glasses are much more fun to wear than whatever type you're wearing....anyways.....:cray:

In reality its not that bad. Hard to pull in top tier players that late into the signing period. I think there will be some solid contributors from this class

My thoughts exactly. Coach ZO did well considering circumstances.

As opposed to the run n' gun offense Pearl was running for the past few seasons.

A motion offense can be entertaining. We just haven't seen a good one run in years.

Yeah since watching pearls offense, which was having the pg dribble until there was 10 sec on the shot clock, while the other four run around trying to get open..

I agree, except for the others running around trying to get open. There was no offensive movement.

Potential There. Look who also recruited these guys...
Wes Washpun recruited by Iowa
Makanjuola by Indiana
Miller by Pitt
Richardson by GA Tech/Oklahoma
Chievous by DePaul and Baylor.
If they all stay in the system for 3-4 years they might turn out better then Duke Crews, Ramar Smith, etc.

going to play.

Maybe not the most heralded class, but to be honest, I'm glad we didn't bring in a bunch of prima donnas. I want basketball players that play hard and give 110%. I think this is what Martin recruited. Give him time and this program will be back better than ever. Go Vols!

if nothing else he has brought in depth we didn't have and wouldn't have had with pearl. This guy brought in 2 legit post players in one year with a matter of weeks to pull it off. Seeing that what pearl had on the table blew up, getting the 5 he got this time of year was a miracle. He went out and grabbed wasphun as if he somehow knew (wink wink) jones wouldn't make it in. The nigerian kid is a post that plays d and will come in with a big chip on his shoulder.....enough said.

With the hopson/harris thing dragging as long as it did the last couple were kind of hail mary's because even if he had them interested he would not offer ships till he had the spots to fill.

Given the time he had to put the class together I don't think you can hold this class against him.
