Oh... And any team that UT plays beyond round 1. Why? Because any team could catch fire and UT could play like it did against Vandy, Notre dame, etc.
Obviously any team CAN win and the other team can lose.
#1 seed Stanford losing to #16 Harvard taught us no game is ever safe. If you want to be Eeyore and generally negative, that's your prerogative.
My point is that there is no logical reasons any of those teams you listed should beat us just like those teams shouldn't beat UCONN or Notre Dame either. We are simply a better team playing better at the right time with a proven resume and track record. None of that guarantees results, but it does guarantee that it would be an upset if we lose and we should be favored to win against all those teams.
-
Louisville - has no signature wins, lost to KY, have not been competitive in 3 games with UCONN
-
Baylor - Lost by 16 to unranked Kansas, lost to KY, has no signature wins, and relies almost exclusively on one player
-
Duke - Lost TWICE to a team we beat by double digits and has next to no quality wins
-
West Virginia - lost to unranked Ohio State and Texas PLUS needed OT to beat unranked Texas the first time they played plus no top 10 wins except their 1 win over Baylor versus their 2 losses to Baylor
-
Kentucky - Lost to us with officiating that catered to them plus lucky 3 point shots by their centers going in. Also lost TWICE to unranked Florida, unranked Alabama, Georgia, and needed OT to beat unranked Mississippi State
-
Stanford - lost to TWO unranked teams including one to end their regular season. Was TIED with us in the last minute in their gym - we are a LOT better team now than that team.
-
UNC - UT is not the same team either that beat North Carolina by double digits on the road. WE are MUCH better. UNC is as inconsistent as they come losing to unranked Arizona State, Miami, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech. Most of the success they had like beating Duke or Maryland was offset by also losing to Duke and Maryland.
Our team started the regular season on a high note and ended it on a high note. Yes, we DID have a tough patch in the middle and lost one of our key players to injury, but we rebounded. We avenged THREE of FIVE losses. We beat the regular season SEC champion and won the SEC tournament - arguably the BEST and toughest conference in women's college basketball.
Again, none of that guarantees results, but that's true for all teams.
