Just curious after looking at the Football forum thought I would find all the same "brilliant" fans on this side of the ball calling for Coach martin to be fired.

Oakland was hittin 3s
Tenn was not getting the offensive boards
FT shooting was bad.

Those three things change we win. Complete games always win.

Golden shows up and we win. He got schooled by a savvy player in Hamilton. That Oakland team will be a solid, solid team by season's end

Tn will do well to be a .500 club at the end of the year.

Me and my best friend argue about this all the time, but the facts are we scored 81 points. My point being is, we have to find ways to win when we score 80 plus points because we aren't a great offensive team. Yemi should be starting IMO. He's already a 8-10 rebound guy when playing 20 plus mins, and Hall isn't doing a lot for us. FTs, rebounding, and defense is how we will win games this year. Oakland shot 90 percent from the FT line. We shot 70 percent and had 11 less rebounds. There's your game.

Young team, no experienced depth, no heart, lost to a mid major, has a losing record like Dooley, fire Martin...just kidding but do you how knee jerk all this is.

Martin has two years... if he looks as clueless as Fooley did in his first two years... see yea.

Dumb thread is dumb. Why not title it something that isn't a troll attempt to get people to read it? You know, something relevant.

Even better, not make it, since it presents no new information. Just post "they hit 3s, we didn't get rebounds, didn't shoot free throws well. That cost us the game" in one of the many many game discussion threads.

I agree with you..The point guard match up was a big reason for that lost, and plus Oakland was hitting some shots that they shouldn't have..Also if we were hitting free throws like we did in Maui, the outcome would have be different..I think that Martin is doing a really good job so far, and with very little talent..At least they play hard, something that we didn't see in our NCAA's last year..

A. It was sort of meant to lighten the dark cloud
B. What is your EXPERT analysis for the reason Tennessee lost to Oakland then.

I am sure that most analysts would have said it was a combination of those things.

Martin will be with us for 5 years unless there has been a real change in the philosophy at UT. Wade Houston was with us for 5 years. His won loss record was attrocious (65 Wins 90 losses).

Gotta disagree with you on two counts. 1. Most of the shots they hit were wide open and a lot were layups. Tennessee played no defense at all maybe jetlag. 2. This Tennessee team has some pretty athletic guards and adequate post players. Dont start making excuses for Martin until you see what he can do. If he can coach this team will go to the tourney.

If he takes this team to any tourney but the NIT he deserves coach of the century. I don't know what folks are smoking but we suddenly went from gloom and doom because the team we had sucked. Then we see that CCM has actually developed the players Pearl left and brought in players (yemi and wes) that immediately contributed when everyone swore they were wasted schollies.

I am getting so sick of the NegaVols not because they are negative but for the fact that most are not negative because of any observations they actually made but because they are mad and parrot some crap someone else said because they can't think for themselves.

Half the guys talking about how much the football team "regressed" had never used the word in a sentence before the meltdown. Most saying the teams are not "coached" have no fing idea what they are talking about. I am tired of parrots.

Just where do you see this great development you speak of. We have several players who have scored a lot
of points in individual games. Of course the main scorers
from last year are gone. We start five 4* players and one would assume that they can score since none are in the 7' height range we didn't offer scholarships purely
because they were defensive stoppers. In the last game
we played like a junior high school defensively. They were taking it to the bucket at will and we stayed with
man to man. With the exception of Yemi these guys have been playing since junior high school and you want to tell me they have never played a zone defense. Don't
bother telling me the jet lag excuse.

I think they stayed with the MAN defense because that is Coach Martin's MO. He doesnt play a lot of zone if any and developes the players to play a more aggressive MAN defense. Although this requires great conditioning and a deep bench.

Huge difference. The basketball team plays hard and seem well coached.
