There is a LOT more to it than McFadden, but I will vote for him anyway b/c IMO he is the best player i've seen.

Do the simple math

Chavis has consistently had one of the best defeneses in the nation. We have had SIGNIFICANT injuries to our starters this year. He isn't the one getting beat deep and missing tackles.

he's the coach. in big game's his D usually doesn't show up. he is responsible he should take the fall, but he isn't going anywhere. this is tennessee we don't fire anybody in football.

these kind of threads are so stupid. chavis has had good defenses consistently for a long time, this year being an exception. his achievements have far outweighed what has happened on defense this year.

our d gived up when it counts. The opponents know what to call to get the first time and time again. and now by a high school coach. we are not consistent and cant be counted on

I'd say we had good defenses in 2001 and 2005. Other than that, we haven't been all that good in awhile. Still, Chavis is decent enough, and he won't leave UT for greener pastures.

You give those 2 backs to any highschool coach and he will look magical.

This has nothing to do with the defense. Just like last week, they can not be on the field all day!!

I personally am sick of everybody bashing the fans that say that Chavis needs to go. Yeah we had a good D last year and in 2001 but C'mon man what has the guy done really????? How many leads has he let go of by playing soft?????? i say he needs to either tighten up or ship out i understand the fact the we lack depth on the dline and losing Inky and Harrell was big but this has got crazy now.

We do not have the athletes it takes to win right now against the Big teams. Our poor recruiting over the past 3 years is showing up BIGTIME!

Guys are D has sucked all year we always have had to rely on our offense to save them. We had Wade, Hefney, McBride, Mayo, and a few more but time and time again they have let us down.

Air Force - Odd formation or not we were dangerously close to losing this game.

Florida- No, we should not have been in any kind of position to win this game (-11 rushing) but we were. Our defense made some good plays but when it mattered most we were let down and they lost the game for us.

Georgia- Our D dug a huge hole for us this game, luckily our offense was having a awesome night.

LSU- A dog fight til the end. Last play of the game our D has them right were they want them and wouldnt you know it, they threw a TD pass to win the game on 4th and 7

Not to mention all the small things that cause these breakdowns. Poor tackling, give up 3rd and long more than anyone, and we dont recognize superstars as being superstars and defend them like we would everyone else and get burned for it consistently.

During our down season (year redacted) what was the one bright spot? Defense. You can't expect a defense to pick up the slack for an offense that can't move the ball. I'm pissed tonight because we were embarrased, but which was more embarrassing, the yards we gave up or the ones we couldn't get on offense? I think Cutcliffe Should resign!!!
