Reggie is the reason modern offensive linemen look like Tiny and Ja'waun. Back then, there were almost no 300 pound football players and the few that existed were not generally athletic.

Reggie was simply unblockable and absolutely merciless in '83. That's a good combo.

Thanks for the post IV. It's always great to see Reggie highlights and to hear John Ward describe the action! Brings back memories for the older Vol fans on here.

Remember hearing of his passing driving back to GA after spending Christmas with the family. Tuff Day for all who watched him, knew him, but I'm sure especially for his family.
R.I.P Reggie !

Pretty obvious that Big Dan will never be able to carry the jockstrap of a man like Reggie White. Big Dan has no big motor or big drive.

Saw him at a Denny's in Charlotte a week before he died. I was little but I still knew the significance of meeting him. I remember being like damn I just saw him a week ago

Dear Coroner, Look no farther for the cause of death. It's all right here.

Seriously tho, what a tragedy at his age. Pretty sick feeling the day that news came. What a UT legend. Remember him in HS for across town Howard High. Beast on the BBall court too at his size and agility.

Big Dan and just about every collegiate and professional defensive linemen in the history of the game. :shakehead:

Man I miss and long for the return of the days when we could talk trash all game week that a certain player or players will dominate and destroy the opposing team's line, QB, DB, RB, WR or whichever position ie: Reggie, AL, Alvin, Travis, Deon, Berry...you get the picture

I get a bit tired of all the criticism directed at Dan McCullers. The kid has anchored the most productive part of our defense and that is the interior. No one has had any success running against our interior this year. Has he made a significant number of tackles? No. but as he occupies multiple linemen to block him it allows for our linebackers to make plays and move unhindered across the field. And as for the notion that he has no motor... Take your AZZ out and push two three hundred pound offensive lineman around for 50 or 60 plays in late summer heat. This has got to be another example of someone who has never been there, done that cracking on a kid giving his all for UT. BTW- I have a special affinity for D-linemen. They do all the heavy lifting for the defense so that linebackers can do they thang! :peace2:

Remember meeting Reggie at a Sunday brunch at the Hyatt in Memphis when I was still in High School. Couldn't believe how big he was. The guy probably single handedly helped the USFL survive for the brief time it did.

As for Dan, he couldn't have a better person to model his play after than Reggie. Hope he can follow the example of one of the greatest to ever play the game.

GO VOLS! BEAT THE dawgs!!!!!
