No, he won't leave this year if he doesn't get a raise (until a he gets an offer he can't refuse at a better job). But he's certainly not the 11th best coach in the SEC. Pay him as a sign of good faith. The man can coach, and as long as his recruiting maintains pace, he'll be winning here for a long time.

He's not going anywhere if he doesn't get a raise..."here's your contract...if you do the bare minimum of what's expected we'll tear it up, and if you stink it up, well, we'll honor the terms"..that's bs...like I said if he doesn't get a raise he aint going anywhere.

And he'll remember that after next season if they go to the elite 8 and purdue comes calling

Come on guy, you know better than to jinx us like that.
lol

Just saying...painter didn't have a very good year this year 15-16 NIT or CBI bound. If he does similar next year they may start looking around and if they have a former player in Martin down here making it 2 straight tourneys and coming off an elite 8 I'd have to think they'd call.

It's the only job that'd worry me, for that reason I'm constantly cheering for purdue :)

Pay the C man

also a comment about the bubble

What was our record when Trae was hurt , I'm note sure if we won a game

That should be taken in mind and not count against us as much

Why you say that?

UK has two more wins the Tennessee and a better record in conference.

They have also rebounded better than I expected they would after losing the number #1 draft pick for the season. Not saying that they should be before UT, but both are probably even at this point IMO.

I understand that however the AA committee does not look at the end of the season in a bubble - yes the last third of the season is important but it is not the end all, be all. They do look at the entire season. Tennessee's SOS is better than UK but the AA will not just dismiss the fact that UK has 2 more wins and did better in conference.

I do hope Tennessee makes the show but UK is a bigger draw (or at least that's the way I think the AA committee would see it). Now if UT wins two in the SECT and UK gets bounced in their first game then the committee might view it differently.

I know, I made a similar comment a week or two ago. Maybe naive, but they are the only school I would worry about though.

Good point, and if it's taken into account we have to be in.

We were 0-2, losses to UGA and Arkansas.

You'd be correct if we aren't talking injury...it has been stated, UK will be evaluated on a 7 game season. Noel isn't coming back, so the committee will evaluate them on their 7 game season without Noel.

Look at those 7 games for Tennessee and UK.

I disagree - there is much more to it than a 7 game stretch. And the AA committee wants/needs UK in the tourney.

UT lost to G-Town by one point when they were ranked 20. They're ranked five now.

I can't do the math, but how much better would UT look with a win @ G-Town?

They'd be in, but just playing them was great for our SOS, as jimmy dykes said you won't find a bubble team with a more impressive loss.

Guess its kinda like UK, how much better would they look if instead of a 3pt loss at UL they got a win?

That's what makes the tourney so exciting and heartbreaking. One point could literally make the decision.

If you disagree then I understand why you'd have UK in over UT. However, those that know the committe say that's how the committe will view them so I'll believe it over a VN poster.

As for the committee needing them, UK was in the NIT just a couple years ago, so that kind of discredits that theory.

Fortunately it's not just UK that we're competing against for a bubble spot. Several other teams that will dictate where the chips fall.

So you "know" the committee.....

Even Lunardi has Tenn out and UK in - weren't you touting Lunardi a few days ago because he had Tenn in??? (CBS has Tenn on bubble w UK).

Uhm I never said I know the committee...many bracketologists and analysts (who get info and feedback from committee) said that UK will be evaluated on a 7 game season and their resume sans Noel, so that's where that statement came from.

And no I was never touting Lunardi, I'll post his stuff and be happy if he has us in, but I've been consistent in my stance...he's not the most accurate bracketologist, and tries to drive ratings up to his final bracket.

And CBS has Tennessee ahead of Kentucky

This is one of your quotes from not long ago about Lunardi.....

"Key with Lunardi is his final bracket, he'll change his opinion 100 times, but his final bracket is usually very close".

Either he is accurate or he isn't.
