He should be honored just like any other solider that is KIA but other soldiers shouldn't have to take sensitivity training on how to treat gay people in the service. That is an incedibly massive waste of time

It's no more a waste of time than teaching racists to knock it off and act like they have some sense in the military. That worked out great.

This man is on the same, high level as any other person killed in action. May he rest in peace.

Nobody should need sensitivity training. EVERYONE should grow the f up and realize the person standing next to them, across from them, and behind them are all just human beings. Everyone is equal.

I completely agree. Nobody should be trained on how to treat anybody in the military. Everybody should be there for a common purpose. Who cares where you came from, what you look like or what you prefer? You're there to serve this amazing country

Gonna be tough to fit anymore training into schedules filled with suicide awareness classes...

Do they still have the biannual EO waste of a Thursday?

They still did when I got out (last fall). They had also managed during my time to get rid of "Sergeant's Time"; now, all training time is supposed to be dictated down from the PL (most of whom need Sergeant's Time more than the Joes).

Agreed, the bs "training" we get on sexual conduct is borderline laughable.

That's pretty retarded. And surely the PL must have to submit a plan to the CO beforehand, instead of just telling the NCO's to run with the ball.

Glad I don't have to set through that crap anymore. I have to take the class online and print out the certificate along with all the other bs classes.

Pretty sure being on a team would have been the only way I'd have made a life of it. The creative ways to make up new spitshine BS on the line is just an ass chapper.

It is certainly backwards. Especially when you consider that the majority of the PLs have very limited experience in the Army (ROTC and their OBC); the platoons they are taking are loaded with combat experience. Forcing the PL to dictate 100% of the training means that the PLs will not learn enough from their PSGs and SLs.

I never claimed to have military experience. I did live on and around military bases growing up, and come from a family with lots of folks serving. My brother is in Afghanistan right now. My father spent the early 90's away from me and in the Middle East.

I have tremendous respect for all that serve. Having not served myself doesn't mean I have to remain silent while ass hats use their service record as a shield for their bigotry.

being signal (with opsec in mind) we have a lot of sensitive items. Stuff always comes up missing. Now it also always turns out to just be in another drawer or downrange and not signed for, but it generally takes 6-7 hours for that to be realized. So during our lockdowns, our NCOs take care of all our EO training and the like. Nothing like spending your Friday night learning about equal rights while also getting yelled at because something is "missing".

NCO's should never allow officer's to dictate training, unless it's been handed down from higher. Even then the planning and how the training is conducted, should run through the NCO's.

Sounds like you come from good home. I was just wondering, thanks.
