I remember back in the days of Florida's Fun'N'Gun offense, that Fulmer would sometimes go right for Spurrier's jugular to start the game, with a deep shot from Peyton.

I hope Butch does something similar on Saturday. Come out with a 22 personnel group (2TE), to make OU think we are looking to run it down their throat. And instead, send North, Malone and Helm deep on go routes, and let Worley put it up for one of them to win the jump ball.

I think it sends a message not only to Stoops and OU, but also our whole team. That we aren't there to lay down for them SOB's. It's an immediate shot at their chin from the word "GO." And even if we don't complete the pass, there is a high percentage chance that we get a PI called on the DB.

It sets the tone for the whole game, if we pull it off, and score on that first drive.

Bad idea. It'd be second and ten just like that. Worley has overthrown the deep ball all year, imagine how much he'd overthrow it hyped up? I like the surprise element though!

Really hope his happens. OU has a strong pass rush that is sometimes mitigated by opposing team's 3 step drops. I hope UT does drop back and go for longer passes just like Alabama did, that plays to Striker and Tapper's strengths.

Sooners probably expecting just that, but why not? In first two games plays appeared scripted first couple of series, but that's pretty standard stuff. Just hit 'em where it hurts, BIG ORANGE!

Im pretty sure they know we arent going to run it down their throat

More likely to work if they fake a WR screen. OK will be prepping all week on the screen game so if a receiver fakes a block and then takes off deep they might catch them cheating.

Going deep is maybe 40 yards max with Worley... Go Medium may be a better solution, crossing route to get our WR's in space

FYI 22 personnel refers to the number of RB's and TE's. So 22 would mean two backs and two TE's. So you wouldn't have North and Malone on the field at the same time if you were in 22 because it only leaves you with one WR. You're thinking of 12 personnel.

Anyway, to topic, I wouldn't hate it at all if we went for the throat on the first play. It might give the good guys a boost. At the least it would let them know that CBJ is confident in them. Go Vols

Edit: Oh and I just realized that I turned a year old today!

Sure. Let's try the one thing Worley has so far shown he can't do well (deep ball) to maximize the chance our offense goes 3 and out on first drive - because that will take their crowd out of the game

I think the Vols are lucky that none of the Volnation posters are our coach.

You're telling me CBJ is not a member here?! Then how does he get our suggestions? I guess an aid prints this stuff out for him...seems low tech though.

BTW, congrats to your Ravens. That's a lot of distraction to play through.

And if its intercepted?....a blowout ensues.

^ The problem with this fan base.

We're so damn soft nowadays. Play to win the damn the game, don't play not to lose. I'm so tired of the conservative bull**** I've seen the last couple years. We actually have some play makers on the perimeter so utilize it and take a shot.

If we score on their ass and go up 7-0 and can get a stop on D, they'll start to wonder what the hell just hit 'em.

Thats not being smart and playing to win...maybe in Madden. Being smart and playing to win in real life is not being desperate on the first play of the game and just take what the defense gives us. How many deep balls have we completed? And you just want to go out there and chuck it up against a top 5 team and hope for the best?
