^ The problem with this fan base.

We're so damn soft nowadays. Play to win the damn the game, don't play not to lose. I'm so tired of the conservative bull**** I've seen the last couple years. We actually have some play makers on the perimeter so utilize it and take a shot.

If we score on their ass and go up 7-0 and can get a stop on D, they'll start to wonder what the hell just hit 'em.

That would be sooo cool! Just like Arky State did to Tennessee last week huh?

Sure. Let's try the one thing Worley has so far shown he can't do well (deep ball) to maximize the chance our offense goes 3 and out on first drive - because that will take their crowd out of the game
We already started with 3 and out on our last 2 opponents, so why not? ;-)I think a deep ball from play action would be fitting and might catch them off guard. I expect the playbook to open up tremendously tomorrow night. Also expect to see less runs up the middle and some toss and sweeps. Why they haven't let Hurd run outside yet is beyond me

Bad idea. It'd be second and ten just like that. Worley has overthrown the deep ball all year, imagine how much he'd overthrow it hyped up? I like the surprise element though!

Worley overthrew all his deep passes in the USU game by a yard or two. He was on target with several deep passes in the ASU game, but they were well-defended. If the receivers can get a yard of separation on a surprise first play, I think it has a good chance of working. However, I think Butch is too concerned about controlling the ball and clock to risk such a play on our first possession.

Maybe Hook n Ladder, or Statue of Liberty - OU is susceptible to both of those plays, as shown by the gimmicks used by Boise State.

Really hope his happens. OU has a strong pass rush that is sometimes mitigated by opposing team's 3 step drops. I hope UT does drop back and go for longer passes just like Alabama did, that plays to Striker and Tapper's strengths.

Don't listen to these posters, we all know the first play is going to be a screen pass to Pig Howard for 75 yards.

The Statue of Liberty is exactly what they'll be expecting...so I propose we fake the Statue of Liberty and....uhhh what does one do when he fakes the Statue of Liberty?

If we're able to call the play watching on TV from home, we will get killed.

Just a few times during the game, if we can pass when we're set up to run (screen, flat, etc.) and run when it looks like we're in a 3rd an long alignment (even a screen or shuffle pass) then we'll have a fighting chance.

Predictability is our cancer. We don't have the horses yet to say, "We're going to run it and we dare you to stop us" (same as with passing).

You want to surprise them how about on the first play faking the run and Worley keeping it, or running some type of short pass play to rb that puts Lane or Hurd behind their line.
Something to have them immediately start backing off and being overly aggressive with our o-line because their d-line and our o-line on paper is the biggest mismatch in this game.

I worry we will either run it up the middle for -2 yards, or try to pass it sideways to Pig which OK defense will expect and given their speed someone may step in front of that for instant pick 6...

FYI 22 personnel refers to the number of RB's and TE's. So 22 would mean two backs and two TE's. So you wouldn't have North and Malone on the field at the same time if you were in 22 because it only leaves you with one WR. You're thinking of 12 personnel.

Anyway, to topic, I wouldn't hate it at all if we went for the throat on the first play. It might give the good guys a boost. At the least it would let them know that CBJ is confident in them. Go Vols

Edit: Oh and I just realized that I turned a year old today!
Thanks for clarifying. I have only recently heard the staff talking about alignments using numeric terms. Heard Wolf or one of the coaches mention it during camp as a 2 TE set. So, I assumed that was 2TE + 2 WR (5OL + QB + RB).
