First round of playoff rankings out

The CFP moved some deck chairs around, but barring a couple of minor eyebrow raisers (A&M above Washington), this is a continuation of the conversation started by the AP and Coaches polls.
  • 21 of the 25 teams in the CFP are within 4 spots of their AP position. Only four (#12 Penn State, #15 Colorado, #20 West Virginia, and #23 WMU) have a wider spread. Fifteen of the 25 teams are within two spots.
  • Even more striking, there is not a single team in the CFP that isn't in the AP Top 25, and vice versa, every team in the AP poll is in the CFP Top 25.
For those who think the "early season polls don't mean anything," the CFP has once again proven that idea false. Starting in the pre-season, the AP and Coaches' polls drive the national conversation, and the CFP picks it up in the middle.

A&M over Washington is a joke.

Caught me a bit by surprise, too. But then, we're not thinking quite the way the Committee does.

In head-to-head comparisons of the teams, they ask questions like, "do we really think Washington would have beaten Alabama (A&M's only loss)?" "No?" "Okay, so set that game aside and let's compare who each team did beat."
  • Wash.'s Wins: then #7 Stanford. Plus current #17 Utah.
  • A&M's Wins: then #16 UCLA ... then #17 Arkansas ... then #9 Tennessee. Plus current #9 Auburn.
...

And so if you look at things the way the committee does, it's not that crazy after all.

How come?

Washington has played nobody. And in terms of talent doesn't approach A&M.

Just cause we dominated A&M and we look like total garbage now doesn't make them a bad team.

Which teams will draw the most viewers. The "playoff" is nothing more than the BCS with 4 teams instead of 2.

stop sleeping on Washington. Watch a game of their's and you will quickly see they're legit.

I don't give a sh!t about schedule. If you can play, you can play.

UM played Wisconsin @ Michigan and who else ? Rutgers and other B10 bottomfeeders and in the B10 the bottomfeeders start at the the 5th team out of 14

7 of their 9 games so far have been home games -- road games at Rutgers and Michigan ST really ? No other team has a schedule that easy

Please stop. UDUB is loaded with NFL talent.

Thank you!!!

Browning is a top 10 pick. Gaskins is a STUD.

Pettus, Ross, McClatcher, and Coleman are all dynamic on offense.

Their defense blitzes only 9% of the time yet they lead in TO margin and are top 15 in sacks.

People need to wake the hell up and see that Washington isn't going anywhere.

Loaded? That is a stretch. They have some NFL talent but they are not loaded. People can say the schedule and quality wins dont matter, but those who say that are just wrong. And these rankings prove that. Washington has only 1 quality win against a decent Utah team that has no quality wins and a loss to Cal.

Maybe Washington does make it into the playoffs. I kind of hope they do and plays spoiler to either a Michigan or Clemson. But right now, it seems like they are going to need some help to get in.

When said "division rival" was 3-5 coming into the game....yeah pretty much.

Lol, what a stupid post.

Irrelevant. Division games can always be tough games. OSU/PSU this year comes to mind. OSU was a huge favirite in that game, what happened? Yeah. Your post is definitely stupid.

Doubling down I see.

What's Penn St.'s record and ranking compared to Miss St.?
