Had my soft top on my Jeep Wrangler sliced up with a knife or something……totally ruined.

The most inhospitable place I have ever been. They will shut doors in your face , spit on you, yell at you, cuss you. Do not take your family.

Tempted to go and stay with friends in Jax Beach. I would leave my wife and kids in Jax while I go, though.

For an extra hour’s drive you can visit the nicer west coast beaches (St. Pete, Clearwater, etc).

Definitely make a long weekend out of it.

I agree for sure. if you go to Clearwater, my favorite spot there is the Sandpearl Resort. If you don't stay there , head to their beach bar to watch the sunset with the Adirondack chairs and firepit.

Yep, Sandpearl Resort is beautiful, stayed there for business meetings.

Opal Sands Resort is a nice spot too.

The last time I went was '13 and from what I recall you can park for free in certain spots on campus. I've never really encountered too much BS from Gator fans.

My best memory is how eerily quiet it was (except for UT fans) after the '01 game!

The only time that I've ever felt unsafe was in Gainesville. As me and my wife were walking back to our car after Vols Gators game, there were bottles thrown at us and we were pushed and shoved by 10 or so students. After we got away from them we actually stopped and I took vols shirt off and hid it in her bag. I have gone on many road trips following the Vols and never had anything like the Florida game. I will never go back.

The swamp that people are speaking to has been dead and gone for a while.

I doubt someone who has visited since 2010 has had some of these experiences

Other than throwing piss I honestly enjoy the belligerence. Florida in my opinion has lost a lot of that redneck aggression that they used to have.

That 90s Swamp atmosphere, for better and most definitely for worse, is gone forever. Primarily because SEC outlawed pass outs, which allowed students to leave at halftime, run across University Ave to get a drink (or several), then return for the second half.

Nowadays our students can’t be bothered to show up in time for kickoff.

I’ve never had any issues with Florida fans but I’ve seen them harass other fans to the point to where it’s like, ok you made your point, we suck, move on. I have noticed if it’s a guy that has some decent size on him or a group of good size fellas they don’t bother them at all. It’s usually the little guy walking with his girl that they unload on. I’ll get the occasional “gator bait” but that all, and I just smile and nod.

It’s not that bad. Georgia is worse.

I mean you’re not gonna actually get hit or get in a fight or etc. The drunken frat bros and local rednecks will run at the mouth some, (and this happens everywhere to some degree I suppose),
But it’s nothing to keep you from going to the game in my humble opinion.
Most Florida fans are actually really cool and can be a load of fun to tailgate with.
We are going to need all the fan support we can muster, and as for winning the game…. Well……I’ll believe it when I see it. This is going to be a huge first big time test in the most hostile environment (other than LSU) that Joe Milton can imagine…..

Lol it’s crap I agree and for sure the worst fans and least hospitable to even fans that are not being annoying.. down 31-3 in the 4th and I was still getting hit with ice and other crap as well as one fan 2 rows in front of me constantly just gator chomping at me for 4 quarters on any first down play or stop for Florida.. i won’t go back I don’t think as it wasn’t much better the time before

This is correct. The University of Florida is a COMPLETELY different college than when I went there in the 80s and 90s. Sedate, focus on academics. I'd never get in, now.

Its the alumni, the old folks, that go to the games. Last two games I went to the student section had more than a couple of noticeably empty sections
