First time I have ever watched a Lady Vol BB game

This. I'm not one to blame the refs either but I notice this every single time we, or anyone else for that matter, plays Baylor at their place.

Playing Baylor is like men's teams playing Kentucky. Calls are going to fall their way. Especially when they're at home.

I dislike it, but it's not something Tennessee's never benefited from in our glory days with Candace or Chamique. That's how refs are in Women's basketball, it seems like they go through phases of favorite players.

Im not trashing anyone?

All I said was we (Lady Vols) suck.

If I call the sky blue, does that mean I am trashing the sky?

If I say our football team or Dooley sucked this year, would that be trashing the football team? If so 99% of Volnation and YOU have trashed the football team. So whats the difference?

And idc if we are ranked "10th", Baylor is making us look like we are ranked "120th". Straight clownin us

DA.

Brittney Griner is so much better than everyone else it's not even fair. I never thought I'd see someone better than Candace Parker at the woman's game...but Griner makes Parker look like an amateur.

Excuse....me!! That's in your dreams about Griner. She's good no doubt, but Candace Parker had the "Whole" TN team on her shoulders her junior year where Griner has some really good players with her on the Baylor team. Nobody beats CP3 in the last 4-5 years of women's basketball. All tho, I'd like to see some one on one competition between the two. CP3 would eat her lunch & then take supper.

This. Candace is a great all-around player. Griner is great inside the paint but she doesn't have the all-around skill set that Candace does. Candace can play all 5 positions on the floor. Griner can't do that.

Well...not so certain 'bout that last part, but Candace looks like a woman.

Mighty dang early in the evening to be that drunk.

Yeah, you're trashing. You've already admitted that you don't watch the games, and you know nothing about the sport, but apparently you're good to come on here and grace us with your insight.

Seriously, I get being bored and flipping through the channels, but posting on a board, pontificating away after watching one whole game in your poor sorry-ass lifetime??

I should have known the doomsday crowd would be out in full force after the loss. You people are truly pathetic. We are a very good young team that will only get better in the next few years. We have been beating quality opponents handily so far. Any game against BU and "the thing" doesn't count and should not be used to make a judgement about the LADY Vols. After all, ladies can only do so much against a man. Let's see how we do against Stanford, a team of women, before we freak out.

Women's ball isn't like the men.

Every year you have a few teams who are on a different level than all the others. and its cyclical with great players (Parker, Holdsclaw, Mia Moore, Taurasi, Fowles, Griner, etc).

This year there are two.

Griner
the girl from Delaware (who, talent wise, makes griner look like a 4 year old)

Griner doesn't even break top 20 all time in the women's game on "talent." She is however by far the most physical. But had she had to play against a fowles, lisa lesley, or parker consistently? She wouldn't look like she does. She's a physical specimen for the women's game, but even in that regard she underwhelms. At her height she should never have a night where she doesn't have a double double or a dunk a game honestly. Once she leaves, Baylor will go back to being a mid level team again.

Women's basketball is a lot like small high school football. One GREAT player can dominate a league, and they usually do. and there are usually anywhere from 1-4 teams a year that are on just a different level than anyone else. This year there are three in that top tier. Then TN is in that second tier (and based on their games against Texas and UNC, they are near the upper end of that second group).

In the right bracket, they are an elite eight or even final four (barring they don't play one of those previously mentioned 3 great teams this year) and if they play a great game and those other teams only play well or average, then they can win. But, that doesn't happen often. Ask Stanford how many times they played before the right things fell into place to beat griner.

If you don't understand the women's game. Don't comment on it. they are a perennial top 10 program, and they probably won't drop much if they win the next game because, yes, baylor IS that good.

This is all exactly right. I think we are a solid 10-15 team right now with the possibility of finishing 5-10 depending on how these girls hold up in their first full season. We are about one really good recruiting class or elite player away from making some noise.

I have been very pleased with our level of play as I thought we would be much worse than we are at this point just based on who we had returning.

A reasonable goal for this team would be to win the conference regular season or tourney championship and to build from there.

That is just not true ..Candace had several damn good players around her. Horns ,Anosike, Bobbit, Bjorklund, and Baugh just to name a few

Well Baylor didn't have their best player, next to Griner, in that game. And Stanford still only won by 2. We also get Stanford at home...anything can happen.
