First time I'll admit....

Our O-LINE is too soft, unprepared, and has too many penalties. How can this be fixed? Or are we doomed?

when you are depending on a 6th year guy and a 5th year guy to play in the SEC (who have played very little to date) you do NOT have the quality depth required to have effective play in this conference. Lane and Davis deserve kudos for staying with the program all these years but neither should be playing SEC football. Just shows where we are with OL on the roster.

2024 alert. OL is going to be much worse with losses.

Lane was supposed to retire after last year. Not landing many OL past two years prompted the coaches to ask him to give one more year.

How are we in this dire of a situation in year 3? Is this still somewhat related to Pruitt and company and players leaving or is it poor player evaluations by that staff (assuming Lane and Davis would have been brought in by that staff), combination of the two? Honestly curious because it sounds like they have no choice but to raid the transfer portal this upcoming offseason.

More to do with transfers and sh1t recruiting classes by Pruitt. Yes I know Heupel gets credit for the first class but that wasn't truly his class. Last years kids may just need a little more time. At least that is my hope

Better players and we have coming.
Remains to be seen. Don't know that we have in the young guys on the roster and those that are incoming. Regardless, they won't be ready to step in and help for at least a year or two. Got to roll the dice and do some deep diving into the portal waters. Gonna need a center, a backup center and several other big uglies. Don't know our numbers, but I suspect we'll have a few voluntary transfers and maybe a gitshirt or two.

We should have been and still be working the portal for lineman. It takes too long to grow them. Unless you get a rare Trey Smith. This problem will haunt us again next year.

For this year we are doomed... Just wait. We will be okay, I hope, with USTA but once we hit the meat of our schedule we are totally screwed....

current staff has had 3 recruiting classes but you really can't count the 21 class because of when they were hired. They had to pretty much keep what Pruitt was getting. So only two classes and the majority of recruiting offensive lineman are not expect to play until 3rd year on campus and a couple years in the weight room. Now, not saying they have done well with what they have because we just haven't seen them.

Nichols has struggled. They have been trying to prepare him to play center for a year and a half but he has not shown he can do it. Thus they move Lane to center 3 weeks before Virginia game. And being fair to him, he hasn't ever played center.

basically, OL depth is still result of Pruitt years.

I am still a bit bothered by Mays not playing Saturday. Heupel seemed quite certain that Coop would play against Florida. Really was disappointed when he didn’t step out for that opening drive

Thanks, that makes sense. Really hope they can get it turned around. It's been tough to watch and I know there's been a good amount of criticism thrown Milton's way. I'm sure he has plenty to work on but I also don't see how a QB can look very good behind that line given how they've played so far.

Got to find a solution at C if Mays can't get back soon. Bless his heart... Ollie ain't it. Neither is Davis.

Love Spraggins... always have. But if he can't stop jumping then he needs to sit. He's also getting beat more than he should.

Also, they're probably playing hesitant afraid of making a mistake. At some point, you just have to play. If you make a mistake then cover it up with pure aggression. If you fill the wrong hole then fill it well. If you block the wrong guy then grind him into a pulp.

I think they'll be a lot better as the season goes. Mays and Mincey 2 SRs didn't play. They'll come back and the young guys behind them will get better. The lack of tackling by DBs is more concerning overall to me long term

Is there any reason to believe the Oline will be better next year? Everyone is rightfully saying they better hit the portal hard to infuse the talent . . . But how likely is that? I think reality is likely more toward another year of a bad Oline . . . And maybe we trim the corner in 2025.

true.

Heupel and Hazle have both made statements that they believe Nico could play and they have confidence in him to do so. But both said this about Joe. Heupel yesterday and Hazle today. Heupel is not close to making a change and shouldn't unless the OL stabilizes.

the reality is that it is about Joe because as Heupel indicated yesterday and Halzle made it clear today they believe Joe is playing better than those in the outside believe
