What did you think of the Steeler's throwback unis?

Good win for the 'Skins last night, I used to live in Phila. so I was pulling for the Eagles but I do like Gibbs though.

I thought the throwbacks looked good. Redskins are 2-0 but it looks like fools gold I would say.

I liked them too.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not sure Campbell can get them to the promised land. But I would like to see Gibbs at least get them back to the playoffs. I do think it will come down to them and the Cowboys for the division so they have a shot.

Didn't Fisher lead the Titans to several consecutive AFC Championship games in the early 2000's? Then the team fell apart. JZVol has a good point. Fisher is one of the best coaches right now in the NFL.

From Wikipedia:

On November 14, 1994, Pardee was fired as head coach by the Oilers, and Fisher was promoted to replace him for the last five games of the season. Following the 1994 campaign, the Oilers drafted quarterback Steve McNair and decided to retain Fisher's services as head coach. The new coach did not disappoint, leading the team to a 7-9 record in 1995, tied for second place in the division. The following year, which saw the debut of Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George for the Oilers, they achieved an 8-8 record. However, an inability to get a new stadium deal in Houston caused owner Bud Adams to relocate the team to Tennessee for the 1997 season.

In the 1997 and 1998 seasons, the franchise was unable to break through the .500 plateau, going 8-8 both years. This led to criticism from fans that Fisher was incapable of ever achieving anything more. The 1999 season, which saw the renaming of the team to the Tennessee Titans, proved the doubters wrong, however, when Fisher led the Titans to a surprising 13-3 regular season record, leading them deep into the playoffs (thanks to the Music City Miracle) and all the way to Super Bowl XXXIV. Ranked among the greatest championship games of all-time, Fisher's team fell to the St. Louis Rams, 23-16, when wideout Kevin Dyson was tackled one yard short of the end zone with no time remaining. This play became known as "The Tackle" in football lore. Tennessee achieved the same record the next year, but were again defeated in the playoffs by an eventual world champion, this time, the Baltimore Ravens.

The 2001 season was a disappointing one for the Titans, as they could only muster a 7-9 showing. The beginning of the next season proved to be even worse, with the franchise starting off with a 1-4 record. Following one home loss, owner Bud Adams made the comment to reporters that perhaps the Titans "were getting outcoached". This provided a spark the team needed, and they finished the season with a 11-5 record and made it to the AFC Championship Game.

The 2003 season saw more success, with yet another trip to the playoffs and McNair winning the League Most Valuable Player award. Again, they lost to an eventual world champion, the New England Patriots, but the team's progress did not go unnoticed. The 2004 season, however, was plagued by injuries from the start, and Fisher's worst record as head coach (5-11) was the result. Following the season, many veteran players (such as Samari Rolle and Derrick Mason) were cut in an effort to comply with the strict salary cap. The relative youth of the team resulted in a disappointing 2005 season as well. Before the 2005 season, Fisher hired Norm Chow out of USC to be his offensive coordinator.

In 2006, the Titans finished a better-than-expected 8-8. The Tennessee Titans then exercized their right to extend his contract by a year, keeping him as the head coach through the 2007 season.

Throughout his tenure with the Tennessee Titans, Fisher has maintained a good relationship with his players, and is now almost universally known as "Coach Fish".

Fisher does a good sales job.

Wow. Keept hating, allvol123. Like it or not, they'll be in the playoffs this year (or the next). Once Pacman returns, we'll have one of the best defenses in the league. Not to mention a bunch of cap room to sign even more free agents in the offseason.

The Titans are a rising team in the AFC. You, on the other hand, are on the decline.

Blah blah blah. I believe the Cowboys were in the playoffs with some guy named Romo. The Jets made it in with a noodle armed Pennington. Keep regurgitating the same ole crud about Fisher.

Also, luckily for you SNO you are not on the decline. That would be impossible given where you already are.

Rewarding mediocrity. It must be contagious in Tennessee sports.

Tell me your joking. He's had one of the 3 least talented teams these past couple of years. He's done exceptionally well with what he has. If anything, I wish he would go somewhere else because the Titans originization is holding him back. Just imagine if he left teh Titans and went to the Chargers next year. They would definitley be champs.

Umm Fisher was breaking in a rookie qb for the second time in his career, how many coaches make the playoffs with a rookie qb?

Romo was in his fourth year and had TO, Glenn and Witten.

Check the Steelers rookie break in. Of couse the Steelers have all those top names. Maybe people become top names because they win, ever think of that?

Again what the Steelers did was the exception not the rule.

But great point there are no great players on bad teams in the NFL.

BTW those Steelers won because they had a strong D and great supporting cast around Ben.

Well I never said he was a great coach. I think he is a an excellent coach who gets respect from everyone in the league.

The reason his record is poor is because he walked into a rebuilding job with the Oilers, who then moved to Memphis and played in the Liberty Bowl for two years then took that team to a SB. Then he is going through his second rebuilding job because the GM didn't manage the salary cap.

He has done a hell of a job when you look at the circumstances he has dealt with.

You aren't a Titans fans so I don't even see why you are trying to start stuff. Enjoy following three teams, I'm sure one will win for you.

One will win? Actually they are 6-0 combined. Enjoy following "The Great Excuse".

Yeah, I'd love to see Dallas, Pittsburgh, or Washington try and beat the Colts in September. We had the defending champs on the ropes last Sunday. Washington and Dallas would have been blown out.
