‘23 FL CB Ja’Keem Jackson (Florida commit)

No he's really not.

Is he faster than him? - no
Is he longer (hehe)? - no
Is he more versatile? - no

They're different players, but Conyers fits the mold of what we want at CB. We play a lot of zone and Conyers is a perfect zone CB
Jackson is a lot faster than Conyer, and Conyer’s length doesn’t matter when he’s getting beat constantly by high school WRs in a state with below average talent. If you can get the athletes to play press man coverage you do it and play man as much as possible. Also versatility at corner is overrated. The best defenses in modern day college football have corners that are true corners and safeties that are safeties and maybe 1-2 tweeners they lineup at nickel occasionally so they don’t get beat on obvious passing downs. I don’t want tweeners that aren’t athletic enough to play corner but don’t tackle well enough to play safety on the perimeter going up against the next group of NFL WRs. That’s what we currently have at corner with Hadden and Charles and it’s why you see our secondary getting picked apart either on deep balls or quick out routes and slants and why we keep seeing slow WRs and TEs running down the sideline for TDs while our DBs try to strip the ball rather than tackle them. If we could land both Scott and Jackson the staff should give Conyer the git shirt and we can watch our offense torch him a few years from now because he’s currently the worst player in this class

I understand your point of view but Christian Charles is actually fast and athletic. He ran sub 11 sec in the 100m. He's just now learning how to play the corner position. He'll likely continue to improve like he has been.

Hadden is a very good athlete. His physical ability has nothing to do with him getting beat. Because you said otherwise, I will assume you know nothing. Bye.

There’s nothing subjective about who the better corner is. Jackson has a better offer list and has better film. He’s better in coverage than Conyer and plays the ball better in the air than he does. Neither have much film of them playing defense but from what little film there is on them defensively Jackson is obviously the better player and their ball skills aren’t even close

I think he has a lot of potential too, but the point still stands that we need blanket corners that can play with the ball in the air. Jackson is better in both areas than Conyer, and as long as we continue to recruit guys to play zone the trend of guys getting beat when they shouldn’t will continue. You have to be able to play man if you want to compete for conference and national championships. With how this season has started division titles and consistent trips to Atlanta should be the expectations of this program. It’s no longer “I’ll be happy with a couple of 10 win seasons and the occasional trip to Atlanta”. Scott is essentially a better version of Conyer both in run support and in coverage. If we can get him and Jackson is reopening things and wants to be a Vol we should take the two of them and let Conyer go. I know he’s been committed to us for a long time, but we have to take the best athletes to improve the only real weakness we have

Just when I thought you couldn’t make dumber statements

I am seriously amazed at the non employed talent evaluators that think they know more than our staff. News flash you don't. Now stfu and enjoy the ride. This site never ceases to amaze, had a couple morons get into it with Carters mom now this sh1t. It's dumb as hell and foolish.

This is why coaches like to evaluate certain players and positions in camps. Sometimes highlights don't tell the whole story, good or bad. Lots of high school coaches teach things or have kids play a certain way that's not indicative of their actual talent. I'm not saying that this definitely applies in this specific case, but it happens a lot. In a camp the coaches can truly evaluate playing speed, length, hip flexibility, and if a player is coachable.

Yeah because Martinez has really shown elite coaching abilities right? I mean he has proven his time here that he can develop right? Oh wait our secondary is one of the worst in all of college football. But yeah, let’s just all believe that Martinez is some kind of great coach at evaluating talent 🙄

So I guess you are one that thinks no fan can have a negative opinion about any member of this staff right? What’s next? Have a negative opinion means you aren’t a real fan right?

Pruitt couldn’t recruit dbs to save his life, almost all of our current players are plan bs or worse, Conyer, Gibson, and Matthews was always the Staffs Plan A from the start
