‘23 FL CB Jordan Castell

Likes UF a lot, but the fact that he didn't just commit there on his OV and now is coming here for an OV (he was here last summer with a bus tour - the same one where Jordan Phillips committed out of the blue) seems meaningful.

Callahan, responding to a question about where he might fit on our board:

"He’s rated as a safety, but he’s more of a versatile DB, so I wouldn’t consider him just a safety. He’s one of those guys who could play probably anywhere in the secondary, or at least have a chance to do that. Tennessee likes Castell and has obviously been recruiting him for a while."

Sounds a lot like Jeremiah Anglin and Slaughter in that sense...

Not hearing much on him, he only has 1 CB and that’s from a Florida mod for Florida. Is he a take for us? Or do we like others more?

Just committed to Florida, we had a hat in the table, but we haven’t even heard about him as even a possibility. I hate when we’re a hat on the table for someone no one has even mentioned as an option here

AP randomly mentioned him yesterday. Simply said "UT is recruiting him".

Could be an ongoing recruitment(?). Hopefully.

I’ll put this here because I don’t know where else I would put it.

For those who always cheer for FSU and Miami because it hurts Florida…..

I have no idea what is going on at FSU. They aren’t even in the thought process of most of these guys, forget being a hat on the table

Anybody got a clue on what our staffs time investment is on this guy say for the last month? Not all recruitments are equal.

FSU has definitely established themselves as #3 out of 3…so far it looks like Cristobal and Miami lead by a wide margin.

I think you're right on the money there with FSU. But that makes Lucas Simmons' decision even stranger.

Interesting. Would it help or hurt them if they got in with the SEC?

It would help them and anyone else tremendously.

The real problem is what we discuss all the time, but no one wants to buy because they think guys like me and Lawrence are just talking trash.

The money and power in that state revolves around the University of Florida. So, when it comes to facilities and needing money from alumni......they don't have it. It's why Jimbo up and left.

Miami has always been a terrible program sitting on top of the best talent anywhere in the country. And they built their program on an image and it sold to the hometown kids in the 80s and 90s. That time passed. But, with NIL, they now have an opportunity to get in the game because they have one crazy supporter willing to throw a bunch of cash around.

Exactly. And it's not a "wide" margin. Right now....it's

Miami

Florida

FSU
FSU is gonna have to put something on the field, which is hard when you’re being out recruited by the other two In state schools. It’s still inexcusable to lose to Jacksonville State which high had nothing to do with talent. They do have a five star in the 24’ class fwiw. If they can have a turnaround season, kids will def look at them. Miami is gonna buy a great class and Florida will get theirs like always.

FSU should always be a pretty good sell because they should never lose more than 4 games in a season and they have FAMU in Tallahassee.
