Why do people OTB feel the need to compare recruits to some of the greatest football players to ever play the game.. I don’t get it.

Pretty common theme on here. Had a couple compare the QB commit yesterday to Sam Darnold, had one compare the Beasley kid to Darelle Revis, etc. Every recruit that commits to Tennessee is hall of fame bound in their book.

Most top tier players choose a school based on two primary criteria -- (1) What's best for their future; and (2) Comfort level; i.e., feels like "home". Of course, there are several key factors that comprise those two criteria.

No doubt we're in the mix definitely.

Bogle, Crouch, Wright, To' is the order for me. Based on what Swanson said weeks back about Crouch's character, I don't think he is as heavily dependent on the season. I believe Wright may need to see a little action to hang on. To' I have no idea.

It feels great to be having this conversation tbh!

I could compare him to a guy who was a QB my HS team played against in the 1980s. You think that would be helpful?

This. People use comparisons to great players not to say they’re gonna be as good as that player, but to use a recognizable figure to establish comparisons in either frame or playing style. The only poster on here that’s ever said a recruit is gonna be as good as a pro is D4H and he gets laughed out of every thread he posts in.
