Baron is fine. He’s going to be an outstanding player. People, it’s not all about who gets the sack. It’s a unit working together.

Baron improved holding the edge at mid season. Early on, he wasn’t holding contain & it hurt the team, especially vs Pitt.

Young got several of his sacks when coaches allowed him to loop around the DTs and come up the middle, using his speed. But the tackles have to tie up 3 guys to free Young, otherwise the OL shifts & blocks everyone. Baron played more straight up rush which is a lot tougher to get sacks.

Good analogy. He will be fine and hopefully gets better. Cause helps on its way. Harrison really came on at the end also. All I'm looking for is improvement. With our staff it's almost impossible not to get better.

Yes he does. But does that make him infallible? BLUF is that he didn't progress this pass season. Arguably digressed IMO. The staff is bringing in help for pass rush and may take some snaps. Is that a derogatory analysis? No, it's just reality and my opinion of his play in 21 games hes played in.
You are his ex-girlfriend, aren’t you? Just move on!

How am I running down a player by stating his production has not improved and the staff is addressing our pass rush by bringing in help? Our OL couldn't block each other against UF, Uganda or Bama. Am I bashing players by stating the obvious?

Tennessee could have Deacon Jones as a soph & they’d still look for more edge guys, especially freshmen. How many edge guys have been signed in the past that never developed or didn’t until their jr or sr year? A lot. It’s a big challenge to beat a guy bigger than you, play against him all game & still be able to make a sack to win the game.

Baron 2020 (9 games)
13 Solo Tackles 9 Assists 21 Total Tackles 3 TFL 1 Sack

Baron 2021 (12 games)
7 solo tackles 19 Assists 26 Total Tackles 2 Pass Deflections 4 Sacks

Less games last year with probably about the same or less production.

He didn't seem to flash as much this past season as he did as a freshman.
Part of that was Roman Harrison finally getting a feel on the edge and Byron Young coming onto the seen.

J. Josephs will factor in next year as well.
And I actually think that along with just getting older and wiser....faster hopefully will lead to MORE production as a Junior

Since this has turned in to the Baron thread I have a question. Anyone think he may actually benefit from his father no longer being on staff?
If there was friction between his dad and others, seems that would be difficult for Tyler..

Pretty sure Baron is putting on weight to move inside... Butler Replacement.

I think he might be putting on weight to be SDE like Blakely and Tremblay were this year. Both of those guys are gone, and I think with his frame that is his most natural position.

Young and Harrison will be the WDE/LEO. Josephs and Pearce should get some playing time there as well, I'm sure Young will be able to play SDE as well. Almost forgot Eason, who I expect to have a breakout year will be playing SDE as well.

Bingo…6’5” 275 should be easy for him to reach…and he’ll be an ideal blend of run support and pass rush at the position IMO

As of right now, I think Bumphus is the starting SDE going into next year. But he can swing between DT and SDE at 290. Signing Verse would really add quality to that position, though.

And honestly most of our games the entire two deep gets first team numbers rep wise with just the overall volume of plays theyre on the field.
