I do wonder about this… I mean they basically just legalized compensation… how does the ncaa who is now backtracking saying “yes these guys do deserve some form of pay” penalize us or anyone else for doing just that? It’s like giving someone a speeding ticket two months later and after the limit now has changed to where the speeding would now be acceptable.

Because the NCAA is corrupt and turns a blind eye to schools that make them money.

You think they’ll punish Bama, Georgia, and Clemson for doing the same sh*t we’ve been doing? Absolutely not.

They don’t care about student athletes nor a school’s reputation as long as they’re protecting their own a$$.

I see right through their BS.

So the ones saying the University needs to this & that, don’t have a clue what really goes on behind the scenes.

Apparently it needs to be repeated often.
Some of our fans just don’t live in reality. They don’t take into account the state of this program before the new guy was hired. Or the fact he’s only been on the job for 6 months and is facing NCAA problems.

Go win 7+ games this fall and all will be fine. Win 5 or less and we’ll struggle in recruiting even more this time next year and Heupel will need to win 8+ next fall. I think there’s enough talent left lying around to win 7+ this fall. Hopefully that happens.

This is why nobody wanted the job. The chances of immediate failure were far greater than chances of long term success. I'm not saying that Heupel will fail, by any means, but this was always going to be an uphill battle starting from damn near rock bottom. And, most Vol fans no longer have the patience for a long rebuild. Whoever took the job was going to have to show immediate results.

All the top coaches turned us down.

However, Heuepel will need more than a year to show positive results.

Anyone whose expecting immediate improvement in one year is in for a rude awakening.

Same thing happened with the phone cards in the 1980’s. I think UT and Nebraska were penalized and the rest of the teams were not penalized due to turning themselves in. Only two schools nationally were penalized for what most every school in the country was doing.

I agree. UT needs to expose their report to the media and expose the standard operating procedures for the SEC.

A lot of recruits think the same about UT. It's obvious they do. Especially in state kids

UT will always be the better program than FSU.

Half of the players are already pissed off at Norvell anyway.

Idk if it’s been made clear but Bishop was also not from Florida.. just played HS ball there. He is from New Orleans, where Norvell has connections to from his Memphis days

Need to win 8 next year, huh. To keep his job? To be able to recruit to his system? No on both of those.

The transfers have blown a hole in the roster, mostly on guys that should be upperclassmen next year. Prepare to take the “under” vs 8 next year. And it’ll be OK.

Maybe. But we’re also a sleeping giant. We’ve just been lacking the right administration and coach to turn it around. Maybe the new guys get it done.

Tennessee has everything going for them except a good HC that can develop players.

Facilities, tradition, campus is top notch.

it would be years away if so. NCAA investigation, class of 21 was mullen-esque.
Transfer portal will help greatly next few years. And ncaa isn’t going to hurt this program anymore than we’ve already hurt ourselves. 1-2 year bowl ban and a few less scholarships most likely, nbd. We’ll know if Heupel is the guy by end of next season.

I'll never understand it. Didn't all the ones who broke the rules get fired or leave? Why isn't that enough? Why keep punishing everyone else? UT should take the Will Wade route and tell the NCAA to F off
I mean I could see forfeiting bowls or something if we were actually good…. But we didn’t even go to a bowl game last year…. So we shouldn’t have to put a bowl ban on our resume.
