FL on Offense - With the way FL has been playing, and this being a home game for them, I feel like the game plan against us this year will be more or less like last year: run the ball, dink and dunk passing and try to limit our possessions. Also I expect FL to go for it on 4th and manageable most of the time.

UT on Defense- Our strength this year is stopping the run. The pass defense has been serviceable but it is hard to tell because we have gotten a lot of pressure on the opposing QB (VA nor AP had good OL play). We will learn how good our DL is this week as FL has the best OL we have faced so far. I expect we will keep attacking on defense to make FL one dimensional.

UT on Offense - I expect us to run the ball 60% of the time this week (we average 55%). I think Joe and the receiving core are not quite on the same page just yet. I do expect us to try a couple of long passes early in the game just to try and keep 6+ out of the box. FL will have watched the VA and APSU games and notice that we gave up on the long ball and did a ton of screens and short passes and will adjust accordingly.

FL on defense - pack the box and run blitz to try and stop our rushing attack and force Joe to beat them with his arm. FL will emphasize tackling in space as that is a core to our short screens.

I do not expect this to be a double digit win for the Vols. It is in the swamp and a night game. I do expect we win as we have the better team this year.

What do you think the game plan for each team will be?

Edit: Does Cooper Mays play this week? If so, does this help our run game? Remember FL has that 400+ pound nose tackle that now has a year of play behind him.

UF will try and take the run away. Everyone we face will try and put it on Milton to win. He's unfortunately the weak link. UF will try to take the air out of the ball on offense, and they'll go for it on fourth just about every time.

100%. They are gonna stack the box and force Milton to make plays. If Milton can hit some big passes and keep them honest then we should be fine.

If they have to stack the box to stop the run, UT will torch them. Milton doesn’t have to be awesome to make them pay dearly if they don’t respect the receivers.

Big plays will come, even if Milton is still off and the WRs drop a few... they'll still happen enough to where Florida can't just sell out for the run. That would be dumb. Florida got in a hole immediately against Utah. They can't afford to do that. They need Tenn to bleed as much clock as possible because their offense is likely going to be long drives too. If Tenn shoots themselves in the foot early then that gives them a chance to ge their own offense going and at least match scores instead of getting down early and quickly.

Florida 400+ lb defensive lineman is a non-factor really. He is slow and he gets blown off the line. Utah OL made him look terrible. I guess there is a chance he has a breakout game against UT though. Chalk that up as a “coincidence.” He has not impressed me in the slightest so far.

If we run the ball as well as we have all year, and I think we will, the deep balls will be there. I know last Saturday wasn’t the prettiest W and we could have played much better, but one bad game doesn’t determine what we’re going to come out and look like the next week.

Frankly, I don’t think Florida has the horses to run with us right now. Come out and put one or two on the board early and that crowd gets real quiet real quick.

Florida will try to test our secondary I'm sure. From watching the Utah game their QB can scramble so we'll need to make sure to contain. We will need to get the ball down the field at some point but hopefully we're able to run the ball effectively and play good defense to eke out a win.

if they stack the box to try to stop the run, I feel like we can expose them with the quick screen passes and may even have 1 or 2 long range passes if they open up

After Small runs up the middle twice, how about Milton keeps it and runs around the flank? Seems like Small always gets stuffed the third attempt. (Humbly submitted 😁)

I wish things could just play out how they're supposed to. Florida sucks. We don't. We should beat them by however many we want to.
This game makes me physically ill to think about every year. I hope we don't have a one score game in the 4th quarter.

He’s a stud on short yardage and goal line situations. He’s impossible to move when he doesn’t want to be moved. But you’re right otherwise, he has hardly any lateral mobility and can’t rush the passer at all. He’s also about the 4th or 5th interior D-lineman that Florida will use, he’s not a starter.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have nothing to fear in this game. For I, the least successful gambler of all time, have lead pipe locked our victory in Gainesville by betting big on the Gators. I have somehow managed to lose every sure fire bet placed in front of me for as long as I can remember. So this bit of insurance is money well spent. But I’ll still be doing my annual teriyaki gator grilling throughout the day, in celebration of losing my money later that night.

Hopefully that is the case. They will be pulling out all of the stops. I expect a lot of blitz packages, going for it on 4th down, maybe an onside kick. AP kinda set a blueprint on how to keep it close against our offense--play VERY unorthodox football. Odd that a FCS school figured that out.

Does that young man have ability beyond his size? If so, why aren't the conditioning and nutrition staff helping him cut his weight?

I hear ya. It's really gets my BVS going. There were more than a few years that we were better on paper and they still managed to win. Just about all of Muschamp's tenure we should've won yet due to crap luck and incompetent coaching on our end we still managed to give the game away.

I would think if it is short enough, Napier will go for it on 4th down multiple times on their own side of the 50. He will want to gamble playing keep away from our offense. We have been struggling, but the potential is deadly if we can put it together. My guess is he'll go for it on 4th down 5 times this game. The D better be ready!! Stops ignites a team, if they get 4/5, it deflates a team. This is crucial!!
