TRANSFER OL VISITS TENNESSEE

Another transfer-portal option who visited the Vols over the weekend, Florida offensive lineman Gerald Mincey, clearly was impressed by his first look at Tennessee. By the end of the first day of his official visit, he wrote in a post on his Twitter account that he had committed to the Vols. Sources close to the situation have yet to indicate that his decision has been finalized, but all signs are pointing toward Mincey likely ending up at Tennessee.

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Mincey has appeared in 10 games during his first two seasons at Florida, including nine games this year, playing mostly as a reserve offensive lineman. He primarily lined up at tackle for the Gators. Mincey is a former three-star prospect from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who has three remaining seasons of eligibility.

Swain talked about him this morning like it’s a done deal and he’s excited about it, mentioned Cade maybe coming back too

Hubbs and Price keeps bringing it up like it’s a possibility with their little nuggets. Hubbs dropped one in 2 minute drill today saying if Cade came back can we find a RT in spring/fall. This tells me Cade likely got feedback that he needs to play G and would consider coming back if he was a G

He has to play G. I hv been saying since he and Trey Smith came out they're both NFL Guards. Cade feet and arm length are his weaknesses. It's why he couldn't stay on the field at UGA.

Agreed BUT there's a couple of other reasons to think he's pretty damn good.

1. He was in the regular rotation at UGA before coming here and started several games there. Obviously there's a lot of talent at UGA. Hard for me to think Cade gets PT there if he sucks.
2. The drop off when Cade was out this year was HUGE. I fully believe we win the Ole Miss game if he's healthy. No one will ever convince me otherwise. Our RT in that game got destroyed all night.
Cade in his two years here is not close to how he performed at Georgia especially 2020 for us. . Now I understand he probably looked better at Georgia because of the OL coach(Pitts) and better players around him.

Naw I promise man go pull the thread up. We had just had a camp at Alcoa and I told ppl both he and Trey were OG and the mases was pissed at me lmao.
I'm not doubting you. I was more or less agreeing.. He is a mauler at guard though..

You think he's leaving or staying?

No that is his brothers spot. He wants to play G whether it is here or NFL. If I were him I’d go. Hell Smith showed it don’t matter draft position if you find best spot
Trey still stayed a fourth season because it was highly likely he’d have gone undrafted with only one clot free year since his diagnosis.

Heard he had a pretty bad grade and is more less having no choice but to come back if he wants to be a Pro
He could just go the UDFA route and sign with the Steelers….. surely …. He can beat out some of those guys.

And Trey had a better resume than Cade even with the clot issue. He also played his draft position in college, while Cade has pretty much been played as a OT the majority buy played some G and C at UGA.

He most definitely could our OL is horrible. The ultimate bad combination bad OL, old qb, and Wrs who get very little separation down field. But naw why gamble when you can come back improve your stock and get some guaranteed money? UDRFA is not as easy as you think.

I thought he was obviously a Guard. Sucks he’s had to play OT at UT. When folks said in preseason that he’d be our LT this year (prior to Wright swinging over), I thought, “God help us if that’s true.” Wright making that move and staying healthy is one of the more un-discussed blessings for Tennessee this year.
