I hope this guy is a Vol.

I’m not sure if Lewis actually hit someone but at this point, we’re in horrible shape to be passing on a prospect like this.

Some say star but he’s similar in size to Pappoa and could be used that way, imo. I mean, we don’t have anyone that can cover the slant.

I feel weird saying this after Banks and Crouch had arguably their best games as Vols.... but I really hope he comes back to our class because we desperately need linebackers.

I honestly think he’s going to be a Minkah type role. He’s 6’2 200ish pounds and Minkah was 205lbs if I’m not mistaken.. freaky athleticism and will probably bounce from nickel to a hybrid linebacker. Either way we need him badly.

Star is the 5th defensive back, who replaces the Sam Linebacker when they switch from 3-4-4 to 3-3-5 or 4-2-5, which they probably run 80% of the time. Has inside man or zone coverages, based on defense. Needs to be able to cover slot receivers, tight ends, x or y slants, or run support. Star should be a little bigger than the safety, around 215 lbs.

It’s pretty clear what happened. Last week he said he was announcing a top 3. Malzahn gets fired, all of a sudden it’s a top 2. He was headed to Auburn. Now he’s not.

Need to hope he doesn’t like their new hire. At this point though he’d have to alter his top two again to pick another school though.

I think we are in great shape here.

We really need to get him back on board. He's enrolling early and could be the missing piece for the LB core next to Henry T. Plus you'll have Dylan Brooks and Tyler Baron at OLB (a couple of 6-5 pass rushers never hurts). The LBs could possibly be a strength next year.

I think the staff realizes what we all do. They are slow at that spot. Really hope we end up with this kid but something about it just seems weird. Almost like he’s trolling. Hope I’m wrong though.

True, and I think Whitehead gets moved back to LB as well. We'll have talent, but I think we'll need a better position coach as well (fingers crossed for Kevin Steele as DC/LB personally)

The win Saturday will be after the signing day, so will have no affect on the early signees.
