The three-star senior running back from Sebring (Fla.) High School, who has been committed to Appalachian State since July, said he received a visit Thursday from Tennessee running backs coach
Chris Weinke, and the Vols are one of a few teams still in the running for his fourth and final official visit.
Auburn and Miami have hosted him on official visits over the past few weeks, and he said he's scheduled to take an official visit this weekend to Alabama, which has yet to extend an offer to him.
Williams recently has discussed visiting Georgia and Texas this month before signing on Dec. 19, the first day of the early signing period, and enrolling at the school of his choice in January. But with Alabama now getting one of his final two visits, and with Tennessee still pursuing him, he now will have to decide between a few teams that are battling for the opportunity to host him next weekend.
"They're new at Tennessee and they're on the rise," Williams said, recalling the message he has received from Weinke and other members of Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt's staff. "I could be one of the reasons (they) make it back to the top, and (Weinke said) that the atmosphere is different there."
Williams said Weinke also has stressed to him "that it's a great opportunity" for him at Tennessee because of "the numbers" at the running back position.
