Florida State is expected to be a major factor with Sanders. They have the hometown advantage and theyve already been recruiting Sanders, who doesnt have an offer yet from the Volunteers.
But Charles Kelly, who is expected to join Tennessees staff as the special teams coordinator/safeties coach, has a history with Sanders. Kelly was Sanders primary recruiter at Florida State (along with, interestingly enough, former Vol Jay Graham, who is following Jimbo Fisher to Texas A&M).
(For what its worth, it doesnt appear that Jeremy Pruitt was a big part of Sanders recruitment at Alabama.)
I wouldnt be surprised to see the Vols offer Sanders in the next couple of weeks (I also wouldnt be surprised to see Clemson and Texas A&M get involved).
So do the Vols have a good shot at landing Sanders?
Thats impossible to know right now. Theres a lot that can change between now and 2019.
They certainly have a better chance with him than they would if he was a 2018 recruit. Perhaps the Vols immediately turn things around in 2018 under Pruitt. If thats the case, youll see a huge uptick in recruiting for Tennessee (maybe similar to what Georgia is seeing under Smart?).
