I really cannot make up my mind. I go back and forth between thinking that Florida is a game away from "clicking" on offense to just flat out always having to rely on defense to win games by 5-10 points. You look at the talent and scratch your head at why we cannot score because we do seem to move the ball fine between the 20's. But, in the last two games, we are just 2 of 15 in scoring TDs when in the red zone.

The team seems to completely seize up once getting into scoring position. I really think that its a coaching problem and that we miss Mullen, not to mention of course Harvin.

Same with Alabama -- what is their true identity? Are they average and have been getting lucky to pull these games out?

I watch the games and don't ever feel like that Florida or Alabama is getting seriously outplayed. On the other hand, neither seems able to explode with some offense and put a team away.

Solid defenses, each with serious flaws on offense. Both are one dimensional on O and the defenses around them are too good to blow away without some ability to beat them deep.

I wish there was a way both teams could lose the SECCG... it seems they're destined to meet there. I will say this is the first time I will root against an SEC team in the NCG if one of the two goes.

Both have good defenses, but the losses of Spikes and Hightower are taking their tolls. Both have gaps on offense.

AL over LSU is not a given.

There's more parody than there used to be in college football. They are two of the best teams this year, there just isn't a very wide gap between the "best" and "good" teams.

and modern parody just isn't as funny as it used to be. I believe people are just losing their creativity.

And yet, you can't help but think that the winner of that game has such an edge over any Big 12 team (or Cinci or whoever) based on strength of SEC defense.

Its not. With those offenses and defenses, that game could easily be a 3-0 kind of a game.

Both good but flawed teams. In a year when there are no great teams anywhere, either could easily win the title.

droski is right, and same thing goes for the heisman race too. Every single team in the top 5 is vulnerable and not one single player has separated himself from the pack.

let's face it. there isn't a great team in any conference this season.

I agree with this, but I do think that the SEC remains by and large a lot better than the other conferences (primarily because of the defenses) such that, whoever does emerge from the SECCG unscathed should be a significant favorite over any potential oppnent, including Texas, Cinci, BSU, whoever.

Agree. Although TN made a serious run at my not-getting-outplayed veneer this past weekend... :ermm:

It's not a given, but I think Bama clearly has the advantage... especially with a bye week to rest and gameplan before the home game.

Bama over LSU is definitely not a given. We're in bad need of the bye week. Home game for Bama... but unfortunately, LSU and Bama have an awkward tendency to be owned in their home stadium by the visiting team.

I'm not a gambler, but if I were, no way I'd put money on this game.

a team who lost to the 9th rated pac-10 team at home almost beat the #2 team in the country and probably the best team in the SEC on the raod. i don't think the sec is very good at all this year. that isn't to say bama or florida arent' the two best teams in the country because if they aren't who the hell is?

I've never been a big fan of the transitive property theory of college football, i.e. Team A beat Team B and A lost to C, therefore C will definitely beat B, as well.

But you make a good point. Aside from Texas, hard to pick a team anyone would feel confident predicting could beat Florida of Alabama. Again, largely because of their defenses.

Kind of like Team A got 7 points because of a refs bad call. Team A went on to beat Team B by 10 points therefore Team B would not have won anyway.
