Florida at #14 Utah - 8:00 PM ESPN

Florida fans keep pointing towards Napier's recruiting as a reason for some hope for a 2024 and 2025 turnaround, but the recruiting will take a hit if they don't show improvement this season from 2022. The other issue is roster retention with the existence of the portal. Good young players aren't going to stick around if the future isn't getting brighter. Napier has to improve this team to around 6-6 to stay credible to recruits and current players.

I am surprised they are recruiting as well as they are and teams aren't coming in to poach them. They haven't signed the class yet and they need to keep that in mind.

Then again, from what I have heard, Florida has one of the wealthiest athletic departments in the SEC so perhaps NIL is helping them like it is Miami.

Not really. They lost their top recruit Rashada in their last class because their collective couldn't pay what they promised him. Recruits definitely are aware of that. Napier is actually a good recruiter and deserves credit for that, but he'll have to be a miracle worker if their season goes south.

That’s what I was saying all off season. Florida keeps looking at their commits and thinking the future is bright but the problem is holding on to those recruits through a terrible season.

We had one of those coaches that was a great recruiter but couldn’t develop his players and we know how that story ends

In today’s world the pending doom is the transfer portal. You could have 30 players leave for greener pasture.

I’m telling you guys and you can save this post for future reference or whatever but if Deion turns Colorado around like I think he will he will get one of the big 3 Florida jobs. I don’t think it will be FSU so that leaves the U and UF. If he gets the UF job it could be trouble
Maybe, but he would turn UF in to the U.
I don't think they want that.

I stood my ground during Bowl season and insisted UF had a ton of talent despite what was happening on the field. Well, a lot of those players have stepped up to starting positions and they are terrible and slow.
Somehow, their recruiting ratings must have been faked somehow. They have been recruiting the Butch Jones level of 4-stars.

Or coached up by a Butch Jones level coach. Again look at what Heupel did with the leftovers from Pruitt. Heck some players even played for Butch too.

And Napier is talking about character in the presser. Hits close to home.
Never trust a man with the same hairstyle on top and face.
