Not to look past FDU, Tennessee is only 7-7- over last 14 games. Their O CAN be held down so we have a decent chance!

Bu tomorrow game first guys, They are the smallest team in the tourney so we need to dominate the boards. Their game is speed and our 4 guard line-up can deal with that better than the standard bigger lineups can.
Surprised they beat Purdue but then Purdue (like Tenn.) has struggled late in season.

Just play hard as usual guys and ya will be good - Go Owls!

We should be able to shut them down better than any team they have played recently. We have smaller guards who can match-up to the water bug style well.

The question is can we make some threes to go alongside a healthy dose of inside feeds to both Goldin and Rosado. If we do that, thy will be constantly running around trying to defend everything we throw at them and tire out in the second half en route to a blow out.

I was going to say something just like this, Rick. Nice

Not much else, they sound like they are trying to convince themselves of a win

Florida Atlantic only has 3 loses. One to Ole Miss, UAB, & MTSU. The other SEC team they played, they beat by 2 points, the Gators. We beat Ole Miss twice & LOST the Gators also. Both teams each played Florida Gulf Coast & both teams each won by 30+ points. We went into the Duke focused & hungry! I hope we can do the same for FA!!!!! Go Vols!!!!!

We just need to make them play our (slower) paced game, that will get them in our half court defense which is much better than our transition defense. Everything else shooting, fouls and substitution will take care of itself.

These head to head rolling comparisons are often not indicative of much. We beat South Carolina by 40+, who then promptly went to Rump Arena and beat the Cats, who then proceeded to beat us twice. No rhyme or reason. Who will be hungrier on Thursday? Thatā€™s the metric.

Comparative scores are useless, just something a newspaper guy thought up long ago so the gullible would read his topic. I saw one long time ago forgetting how it went but something like this ETSU has beat App State & App State has beat NC State & NC State has beat Clemson & Clemson has beat Illinois who beat Michigan so ETSU should beat Michigan in the NCCA tournament. I think that was year of the Fab 5.
Every game has its on dynamic but I guess its fun to look back and compare scores

Some of those comments seem to be about FDU, and not Tennessee. I don't think anyone would say Tennessee is "the smallest team in the tournament."

Anyway, I don't see them dogging Tennessee, so it doesn't mean anything I don't think? Of course they're going to be positive about their team's chances.

Just for fun's sake, ETSU almost beat Michigan the year of the Fab Five. It was 1992, and games were in Atlanta. I was editor of the ETSU student newspaper and had a courtside seat at the press tables. The Bucs knocked off Arizona in the first round and played well against Michigan in the second but ultimately lost. The highlight of the game for me -- Jalen Rose came flying into the table where I was sitting, picked up my drink sitting on the table and guzzled it and went back on the court as if nothing happened. It was one of the most surreal moments in my life.

We was robbed! ETSU should have been National Champs that year. I seem to recall Michigan State coming to town (ranked #1) and left knowing they got lucky....

Wow. If they think UT is slow and out of shape just bc of size, they are sorely mistaken. We can fly around with the best of them depending on our lineup. They must not know about Barnes secret Neyland Gate 10 summer conditioning just beyond that tree line šŸ˜Ž

We are in good condition, but some of our players are not as quick as FAU appears to be. We were not able to handle Missouri's quickness either time we pay this this year. Quickness also bother 3 point shooters. Quickness also bothers our big players when they put the ball on the floor. We should win the game by 8-10 points, but we will have to prevent turnovers or the game will be much closer than we want it to be.

It appears to me that only the first line was about UT, which was basically factual. All the other comments were about FDU.

We hold our TOs under 10 and we win by 15.

Too much hype about FAU and how the officials are going to call this game.

We have two players to Shut down Martin & Davis. Somebody is going to be in their pocket.

Their Bigs are a wash on the inside and I feel they will be intimidated by our bigs.

I anticipate that this team will shoot 30 to 35 threes. Hold them to 30% or less and we win which we will.

We held Alabama to 59 points without JJJ or Phillips

Our offense is physical as well with the screens so there is another factor not being considered.

All Tennessee has to do is stay in their lane, do nothing fancy and they win.

I wouldn't look past them at all.

Can push transition, pace the floor well, and have a lot of length in half court (passing lanes). All it takes is for one person to get hot. NCAA tournament, anything can happen.

Their fanbase is so puny and small I can barely find much of anything of how they feel about the match up. This despite being in an historic game for them in the sweet 16. Its really pathetic. They don't deserve to be here!
