Florida has had a fine season but -- if you've watched them -- is not very good. They would have had zero chance vs. Pitt and Villanova.

The last team Florida wanted to see in its 1st SECT game is a relaxed UT. [Assuming the Vols get past Ark., UT will know it's in the NCAA and the pressure is off.]

The Vols probably don't deserve to win the SECT and likely won't. But they are the most dangerous spoiler in the field.

Doubt Florida likes their draw all that much anyways. Florida gets the side of the bracket that has Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State. Kentucky(East #2) gets Georgia and Alabama. Doesn't seem all that good of a draw for the team that won the conference. Once again, seeding by division needs to die.

How do you think they would do against coc?

FL would fair well vs. Nova and Pitt. I don't think the Vols would beat either team now.

A spoiler team is usually one that would not make the tourney and possibly ruin a bid for one that may. As in Arkansas. If they beat UT, their bubble gets bigger.

i don't know what will happen, because you never know how motivated a team is in the conference tournament. that, and tournament play always is loaded with surprises.

however, there is no team playing better basketball right now in the SEC than florida. i don't even think that's debatable.

I don't know why they would be scared, UT will play a great first half and then fail down the stretch. That is if we can get past Arkansas this time. GBO!

If they did seeding by conference rather than division, Florida is the big winner (and Vanderbilt is the big loser), as the matchups would look like this:

#1 Florida vs. [#8 Ole Miss or #9 Arkansas]
#4 Vanderbilt vs. [#5 Georgia or #12 LSU]
#3 Kentucky vs. [#6 Mississippi State or #11 Auburn]
#2 Alabama vs. [#7 Tennessee or #10 South Carolina]

Florida isn't good
UK isn't good
TN is terrible
no one else is worth mentioning.

Its just a terrible time in the SEC. SEC games look like two dead fish floundering around the court trying not to screw up.

Florida could not beat Pitt....could beat Villanova but they'd have to be playing hard. Of course TN couldn't beat these teams either obviously.

Florida certainly isnt a national title contender as some would make them out to be but I doubt they are shaking their boots at playing this Tennessee team again either.

I've got to ask.

Why isn't florida good? What is it about the florida team that is so poor?

Florida is the best team in the SEC and are closing strong. I think they will be a player in the NCAA tournament. They aren't concerned about who they play in the SEC tournament as they already have their ticket punched. They are regular season SEC champs and that is more meaningful than winning the tournament in my book.

I imagine not, but I bet they'd rather be playing Ole Miss, as they should be.

Florida has won 8 of its last 9 and the loss was at Ky, where they have won, what, like 33 in a row? Florida is a solid basketball team. Good, but not great. The two things they really have going for them are 1) experience this season in winning tight games and not panicking down the stretch, and 2) they are not as dependent as some other teams on one shooter to carry them.

As for the SECT, honestly, no one strikes me as all that hot right now other than Florida. Not that they'll win it, but no one jumps out at me as the team coming in on some sort of turning around momentum. I would not fall out of my chair if UF lost to UT or Arky. My guess is that if UF wins a second round game in the SECT, then they are a 3 seed in the NCAA. If they lose, a 4 seed. But nowhere to go other than that.

And anyone who at this point says that UF or UT or Ky or Vandy or whoever is going to lose in x round of the NCAA is an idiot because you don't know the bracket yet.

The reason they arent national championship caliber is because they arent great at any area and their overall physicality and toughness is not great.

I don't disagree with that at all. But once you get past 2 or 3 teams this year no one has much in that regard.

Definitely the hardest side of the bracket...
Tennessee, Vandy, Florida.

BTW, the west is terrible. I think it will be an all-east division semifinals. I like UGA in Atlanta in their rematch w/ Bama.
