Florida Fans...What Are They Smoking?

Eh, LSU still has great talent and maybe a new lease on the season with "Yaw Yaw".

I'm hoping for a good tough game, meaning LSU destroyed Missouri so bad it was really hard to see if some of the changes really were helping or was it just a bad team. Seems like it should be a real test for Florida as to whether they are a legitimate top 25 team.

Looks like a good matchup, considering both teams have injuries up front as well.

I'll be in Gainesville Saturday rooting for the Tigers. I'm hoping for a quickly played blowout so I can get back to the car and fire up the Main event for the drive home.

So fly to a potential hurricane zone to wait out a hurricane?

My guess, the wait a little longer to pull the plug, just setting up options if they need to pull it tomorrow. LSU hosted SC last year that they had to make the call by noon on Wednesday.

I don't think people understand how it works... people bug out of town... all those interstates could end up being parking lots like in 2004. It's really not about the weather on game day, although it looks like they are talking about 40+mph wind right now.

Update: UF has issued a statement that the game hasn't changed yet but they are monitoring the situation.
Had a home in Naples for years. Locals don't get excited for anything less than a Cat 5 and that's at sea level on the coast. I actually did drive out of there when Katrina passed over and traffic was normal.

After riding out Andrew in '92, I will never tempt fate again. At one point I was peering out into the darkness with my hand on the window. When I felt the glass bow, I knew I was in for a rough night. The next day it looked like S FL had been through massive bombing raids. No landmarks, no street signs in sight. Complete chaos and destruction.

If UF players just focused on trying to get better each week instead of trash talking other teams on twitter, maybe they wouldn't struggle as bad. McElwain is held responsible for controlling his players yet he continues to let them act like cocky a$$holes on social media. That's what is going to keep UF from winning the East is arrogance.

Having seen what Charley did in Cape Coral, I have no desire to ride out a big one but I'm a snowbird of sorts. I am sure that some of my former neighbors are probably windsurfing right now assuming it's blowing on the Gulf side.

Florida has just issued a statement.

Seems like Fournette might take issue of flying into a hurricane zone considering what happened to him last time. :) I think a late Saturday game could work there but then you get into a possible cancellation issue if the storm is bad.... meaning damage or services cut.

I've grown up and lived in Florida for 28 years. I've sat through every hurricane at home. But these are never a thing to mess with. Do as I say not as I do though lol

I think Katrina changed that thought process in a whole other level for people in Louisiana. If you told me Louisiana was at war from what I saw, I would have believed it.

With that said, it looks like the forecasters are saying it will stay way East now. Looks like Florida to me now.... I don't think they will have a problem getting in there.

Game might be moved. Unsure where this is played, if LSU flies in on Friday its flying into a Cat 3 hurricane situation. although it looks like it stays offshore right now.

I am hearing possible Superdome but nothing concrete yet.... Baton Rouge would probably get low attendance.... New Orleans makes sense as it appears the Georgia Dome is booked.

Why would Baton Rouge get low attendance?
Was that a joke? It's late.

Not a joke at all like utvol explained. Last year when the South Carolina game was moved on Wednesday before the game to Baton Rouge... the attendance was like 42k. I would suspect the Florida game would get higher numbers, if the weather is good, but yeah you'll never get even close to 100k. If they did it in the Dome, that would probably get higher numbers. I have heard from many people though that the SC game was actually quite nice with less people, more relaxed, although nothing beat Tiger Stadium on Saturday night with a packed house.

The crowds at Tiger Stadium ain't what they use to be either... although they get good attendance.... lots of families and corporate seats are empty after half-time... its a huge problem.

Yeah, man, you're not just kidding.

As for the storm, don't think Matthew is going to have any effect on this game. From the local perspective in Gainesville, it's nothing but a rain-maker. And even the rain should be over by game time.* They might even have clear skies.

* National Hurricane Center plot puts the center of the storm well beyond Florida, due southeast of Charleston, SC, at game start time (noon ET, Sat).

did they honor tickets if you had one to the game in SC?

I'm not sure how that was all handled, I assume South Carolina got an allotment.... but as I mentioned, you could pretty much get a ticket at the box office. If they move the game north I might end up going. However, its starting to look like a cluster if you ask me.

Hearing that UF won't consider playing the game at LSU but rather it will be cancelled altogether if weather is too bad. Making some wonder if they're trying to avoid potential SEC loss in hopes of winning East if UT loses a couple of SEC games.

I think it goes by wins so they'll be one short

From the SEC's website:

The participants of the game are determined each year during the eight-game regular-season conference schedule as the teams with the best overall SEC winning percentage in each division.

Move it to Bristol!!!

Nah, move it to Neyland in the spirit of SEC cooperation in times of need.

Also, because it would be fitting for the Gators to get beat twice in the same season in Knoxville.
