Florida is seeded two spots too high. I don't think I would necessarily have them and Kentucky switch, but I can see UF at a 4, and Ky at a 3.

UF shouldn't be a 2, but a 3 isn't that big of a difference. I can really see Florida making the Final 4 from their very easy bracket, although I think Notre Dame or KU would easily beat them. We beat Pitt by 7 on their home floor, Florida beat us 3 times. Florida has been playing very well as of late, think they just ran out of gas today. They have a lot of upperclassmen who play their tails off. I also predicted UF as the regular season SEC championship, so I think this team has been underrated all year long.

Well against UT, Vandy and UK they are 6-2. I don't know their full record against top 50 in the rpi but they are as dangerous as anybody. Besides, these are tourney seedings. I don't care for them at all but could make the same argument about UT seeding. Other than beating Vandy (who they match up against well) they haven't done anything since week 3 of the season.

the 2004-05 season offers a great parallel. Florida split the regular season series against Kentucky. Kentucky won the regular season championship. both teams met in the SEC Tournament Final where Florida defeated Kentucky 70-53 (that's 1 point more than UK got us yesterday with the help of one-sided officiating).

a couple hours later Kentucky is awarded a #2 seed and Florida got a #4 seed. there was no great dissent raised because nobody cries as loud and as long as Kentucky fans. the 2004-05 Gators were a great matchup against that year's UK team but Kentucky had a better body of work. the NCAA selection committee looks at a certain section of criteria each year. Kentucky met those better in 2004-05 and we met them better this year.

A part of this that you also have to take into consideration is the influence of geographical placement, which has been emphasized in recent years.

Florida had a great record against top 50 teams, was I think 13-2 against tournament teams, and won the SEC c-ship. They were basically a lock to play in Tampa. And they weren't going to be a 5 seed, probably not a 4 since they got to the SEC tournament final.

So to make the bracket work, it was a 2 or a 3 and the way they did it made more sense to the committee when comparing the teams that could compete for the 2 seed in one of the Tampa brackets.

As I said, I agree they are not one of the top 8 teams in the country, so in that sense they can;t be a 2, but there is more that goes into it than just that.

Florida at 2 is a joke! And so is their path the Elite 8. Gonzaga could be in the elite 8 on that side.

The only decent game I would care to see in the Southeast is Pitt/Wisconsin. How pathetic.

The only thing one-sided I saw in the game was the fact that UF absolutely refused to drive the ball to the paint and take it to their big guys. Settled far too much on the outside game. They drove it at you guys over, and over, and over. They're not going to foul you guys shooting 20 foot jump shots the entire game. No paint production.

you're exactly right. on contact plays like rebounds etc, they pretty much let the bumping and banging go on as normal. ya'll weren't aggressive and we didn't foul ur jump shooters so there wasn't really anything to call. uk great mike pratt said it best before the game when he was talking about uf and basically said you were soft defensively and not aggressive offensively.

we drove it at them in the first half, drew contact and got ZERO calls. our only freethrow attempt of the first half, compared to Kentucky's 14, came on an over the back all things. we weren't settling for jumpshots either as UK and UF were even at the half in jumpshots.

at some point when you've got undersized guards who when they get contact in lane aren't getting calls and give UK's taller perimeter players free reign to challenge them with their bodies it's foolish to keep doing what's not working. Boynton and Walker average 10 freethrow attempts per game mostly driving in the lane. yesterday they were allowed to attempt ZERO. we usually average 22+ freethrows per game but only had 8 compared to UK's 29.

if one call crystallized who the refs were for it was that out of bounds call at a critical juncture at a critical juncture in the second half. Terrence Jones knocked the ball out of bounds and it was called that way by the ref under the basket. Calipari goes out on the court throwing one of his overly dramatic hissy fits that he has 20 times a game pleading his case and in response another ref comes running up from 25 feet away at bad angle to overturn the call and give the ball back to UK. after that Boynton pleads his case to ref and after receiving his answer walked away. the ref called out his name and when he didn't turn around as fast as the ref would like and T'd him up. all this at a critical juncture.

Florida didn't play their best basketball yesterday but they didn't get a fair shake. it'd be one thing if the refs allowed a physical game on both sides or even switched up how they called the game at the half as long as they were consistent. but they called the game one way for the team in blue and another for the team in white. Kentucky still might have won had the refs not pulled that garbage but we'll never know.

they didnt want uconn in the same bracket as Pitt so they got pushed to a 3 seed and Fla was next in line. Fla is decent and they had a breakdown like UNC did in the tournament. They deserve a 2 seed and if you all recall they whipped out ass 3 times this year.

We can make a run if we can get past mich and duke. WE need Williams to be a man-child inside and to hit some threes. If williams plays like that hot little blonde cheerleader we are in trouble

It sucks when you get hosed by the refs huh? At least that didn't happen in the sec quarterfinal games..
