First, congrats to BYU.
Reactions:
1) Hey, we got in.
2) We were seeded to lose, and it was as close as you get.
3) At the same time, it is frustrating to have three clear chances to win and fail to capitalize. It is frustrating to come out of three timeouts (one at end of regulation, two at end of OT) and appear to have no plan whatsoever on who is to take the shot, or how. It is frustrating to watch us shoot about 30 pct from the field, pull down a ton of rebounds such as to get second and third shots -- and still miss.
It is frustrating as a fan to recognize that our advantage -- a big one -- was that we had them seriously outsized in the front court and yet we still settled on perimeter shooting, and sometimes shooting from the perimeter of the perimeter, and often with plenty of time on the shot clock.
But, the reality is that all the things that came home to cause the L today are things we've been seeing all year long with this squad. I suppose that we all have hope that, when the tournament starts the light will come on for these kids and they'll magically turn it up a notch or two. They don't.
Which is not good news for you, either, I'm afraid.
