Gillislee and Burton will probably get the majority of touches next season. I don't know that Jones or Davis are ready to step right in and contribute as true freshmen.

Jones and Davis aren't on the same planet as Dyer, Lattimore or Crowell.

Bad comparison.

Driskell is scared to death to throw a seam route right now and I didn't see much accuracy when he launched it either.

You win...Coach Weis is gonna punt on first down and play field position.

I hope you're right too.

Davis and Jones are good pickups for us, but neither is as heralded as the guys you mentioned. Dyer and Lattimore were the #1 and #2 RBs in their class, and i think Crowell was no worse than 5th.

Neither will be ready as Lattimore, Dyer or Crowell were/are as true freshmen.

In time they will be very good RBs however, and I like your optimism. High school highlight clips on YouTube just don't excite me all that much.

Not trying to win anything man. Just talking on a forum. If you can't have a discussion after a loss, maybe you shouldn't.

I think I was giving you too much credit before.

So for you: Driskell is great. He wasn't scared and Weis isn't worried about overthrows in the middle of the field with a live, young, inexperienced arm. His running won't put him in danger of getting blown up. He is destined for the same greatness as Brantley was a couple years back.

Let's try this again so there's no confusion....

When teams have attempted to take away Demps and Rainey in the flat, Weis has opted to go with the TE seam route using Reed or Christian, or go over the top. In a couple games he's gone over the top immediately to stretch out the defense (see Alabama).

So regardless of who we start at QB, or how scared or incompetent you think he might be, this will be the game plan.

Speaking of UF running backs. What's the word on Mack Brown. Local kid and was very highly recruited, but I believe he's been dealing with some injuries that he was also dealing with in HS.

Thanks boys.

speaking of Muschamp, the Gator mods had some interesting things to say about Muschamp's attitude. Said that he acted like a brooding teenager.

For UT's sake, they should hope that Brantley comes back as soon as possible. If we can groom Driskel similar to what y'all did with Bray then I think we'll be ok on offense, as opposed to just getting used to him next year, sans the Brantley injury.

Not really. I want Driskell in there for the rest of the year taking a punishment from the likes of LSU. He will then realize that he is used to losing all the time and that mentality will stick with him (keep in mind he barely won anything in HS).

his first start as a true frosh against LSU in a game he isnt even close to expected to win will stick with him? :eek:lol:

I'd be careful what you'd wish for. Driskel took a really NEW high school football program to the playoffs, and he was rated #1 pro and spread style QB by Scout.

I'd love for Brantley to come back asap, but if Driskel gets meaningful experience this year, he will have much more tougher games under his belt compared to what Bray had before he faced UF...

Talk about an intro to the SEC... 1 half vs Bama, then @ LSU, @ Auburn, vs UGA in 2 weeks.

I don't know. A backup QB against a Chavis defense... I think Florida might have a chance.

If he takes a beaten while Brantley is gone, then it definitely could have an effect on him. It's not like he's use to winning. That has a big effect on some young QBs. It's not like we groomed Bray (like the poster before mentioned) by sticking him in there vs. LSU, Bama, etc... We used Simms as our crash dummy until the schedule eased up a bit, and Bray wouldn't get killed behind our inexperienced O-line.

If you guys want anything out of this season, you had better hope Brantley comes back as well. Driskel will be a player for you guys, but he looked scared to death against Bama.
