So actually if you want to get right down to it, you was only number 1 for what 29 hours. It was just sitting and waiting for the next poll to come out. Correct?

No but seriously we were number one for a week and lost it the next time the polls came out just like every other number one has who lost. How did you think that would work? Where were you ranked this year?

This year hasn't been that great of a year, but I figured that going into it. I mean what do you expect losing 4 of our guys to the nba, 3 of them being first round picks. You can't win it every year. They will be back though, we have a lot of young talent. Next year will be a whole lot better.

Nope, because a lot can happen in a week. If some other teams had lost we could have remained number 1. We were number 1 from the Feb. 25 poll until the March 3 poll.

Agreed. This year as a whole was down for the sec but your gators and the wildcats have young talent. It should be interesting.

why would a UF fan be discussing anything to do with a #1 ranking this season. teams plannin on hosting the first round NIT games are irrelevant to any discussion of the top teams.

March 2008. What an innocent time to be a Vols fan. Pearl had just swept the Gators, got us a #1 ranking and Sweet 16 appearance, and the football team was coming off an SEC Championship Game appearance. Little did we know that there was one hell of a black cloud brewing on the horizon.

We were SEC Champs in basketball in 2008, and were the defending SEC East Champs in football that upcoming season. An overtime loss to UCLA on Labor Day night was the beginning of our exile that we are slowly returning from.
