Florida Straw Poll

When it comes to most local races around here the straw poll winners usually get torched in the primaries by their opponents. So pardon me if I don't believe Cain is an actual front-runner.

I find someone who focuses on using cute phrases, stupid word plays, etc. as much as he does to be incredibly annoying and I generally don't trust their ability to get it done off the campaign trail.

You describe Obama to a T.

On the contrary, interviews I've listened to with Cain
were very good, he doesn't sidestep hard questions
and definately displays a solution oriented set of
responses.

Would you vote for Cain or Obama if they are the
two nominees??

Huntsman doesn't stand a chance.

FWIW, Cain received more votes in the Florida straw
poll than Romney and Perry combined.

That says quite a bit for Cain.

I agree with this. His 999 plan sounds gimmicky, but I think the point is, that the tax code is unnecessarily complex to a point that very few can understand it. There exist simple and fair solutions.

Not sure when or why the phrase "class warfare" became so nuclear. The reality is that both parties engage in it all the time. Its the truth for Republicans to say that Democrats generally speaking favor placing a larger share of the burden of societal cost on the wealthy whereas it is the truth for Democrats to say that the Republicans seek to help the wealthy shield as much of their wealth as they can.

Everyone knows this. And both parties talk about it all the time. Don't see why they don't just own up to it.

we should let Obama review all of our bank accounts and let him determine if we are giving enough

It's always about "fairness".

Illinois Senate President John Cullerton today suggested the state should start taxing the retirement income of senior citizens who are able to afford it.
The state does not currently tax pensions or retirement funds such as 401(k) plans, but Cullerton told a City Club of Chicago luncheon that should take place as part of an overall look at what he said was Illinois' "outdated" tax system.

"It would just be a matter of fairness," said Cullerton, a Chicago Democrat.

Details are still being worked out, but Cullerton said the state could bring in could bring in upward of $1.6 billion a year. Cullerton said the money could be used to provide tax relief elsewhere, whether that be lowering the corporate income tax rate, reworking sales tax rates or some other idea. Cullerton also suggested a means-test to avoid taxing low-income seniors.

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn today said he hadn't seen details of Cullerton's proposal, but indicated that it should be looked at as part of an effort to achieve tax "fairness."

Let's be fair here. All of them suck. It's a matter of fairness. If Perry sucked more than Romney - it just wouldn't be fair.

Two questions;

1. Why would you not vote for Cain?

2. Who do you support?

The only two straw polls I'm aware of are Bachmann's win and Cain's win. Surely you don't think either of them is a more viable candidate than Romney or Perry.

Ron Paul has won or come in second in several
straw polls.

His campaign recently issued a press release
(prior to the Florida vote) that he should be
considered the front runner taking those results
into consideration.

The media generally ignores straw votes in favor
of selecting the candidates themselves.

For instance the local lickspittle Gannet media
outlet, the Tennessean, published an article with
the headline, Romney and Perry dominate the
debates so far.

This couldn't be farther from the truth.

The public is sick and tired of the old media
and recent polls indicate that the numbers of
those who get their info from the internet is
growing drastically and the numbers of those
who depend on the old media is declining
exponentially.

Blog: Is Herman Cain the left's worst nightmare?

Unlike Barack Obama, Herman Cain comes from
African-American roots, with slave ancestors, and
blue collar parents. While Obama's Luo ancestors
in Africa were slave holders, (and traders of their
fellow Africans), Cain's ancestors were slaves in
America.

Cain didn't attend any elite prep schools or Ivy
League universities, he was the first member of
his family to attend college and rose on merit in
the corporate world, before the era of affirmative
action.

He is, to use Al Sharpton's phrase, "authentic."
