Florida woman sentenced to 20 years for firing a warning shot

After the sentencing, Rep. Corrine Brown confronted State Attorney Angela Corey in the hallway, accusing her of being overzealous,

Angela Corey is the same prosecutor who charged George Zimmerman with 2nd degree murder after the local prosecutor chose not to file any charges.

She could have fired a warning shot straight up. She didn't have to shoot it in the direction of her children. As I said, the time is excessive, but I don't feel she should get off scott free. Sentence her to a year with the chance to get out after six months if she behaves herself. Either way, DCS needs to be investigating how safe these children are. Abusive dad + reckless mom = fail.

Casey Anthony killed her kid in the same state, and walked..

Which is sickening. I can't even watch documentaries on that case as they make me ill. Someone who could so ruthlessly kill her child like that and act as if nothing happenned should not be walking this earth. I hope she dies a slow, painful death and spends eternity in hell. She's beyond evil.

I don't think a warning shot straight up necessarily carries the same weight. At least she may not think so in the heat of the moment. This is just stupid.

Hindsight still 20/20. No one knows what they will do in any situation until it happens. Does this woman have any history of criminal activity prior to this?

It's a shame that the media has to remove key facts in a story in order to prop up their race baiting/female victimization narrative...

Jim Fisher True Crime: Marissa Alexander: Another Standing Your Ground Case

A few days after her arrest, Marissa was released on bail under orders from the judge to stay clear of her husband. But four months later, Marissa, in violation of the judges's order, went back to the house and punched Gray in the face. (She would later plead no contest to domestic battery.)

That is smart. 4 months earlier, she needed a gun to defend her against a man that had threatened to kill her. But now, not only did she violate a court order, she approaches this same man again with just her fists...

Anybody else want to try to defend this?

The two of them have been engaged in physical altercations before. But the kicker is that she returned 4 months later (violating a court order) and attacked him again.
