Can someone answer this: when was the last time that a top-level FBS team with a completely new coach and system did very well in Year 1? I'm sure it's been done, but I seriously can't remember it happening.

People seem to be giving Florida lot of love despite the mass changes that have occurred over the past three years. IIRC, there have been 3 DC in 3 years (IIRC), there is a new head coach, no running game to fit a pro-style attack, they lost the top cover-corner in America, and have a QB who, last season, looked worse than Cromp Daddy in the Clawfense. I understand that they have amazing talent, but there is no way that people should be giving them the love that is out there. Today on CBS Sports they predicted that Florida will be better than last year, which I find very hard to believe.

Frankly, I expect us to beat them this year. They may have more talent, but there have been a lot of changes. It will be a good measuring stick for us from a talent standpoint, but I will be very disappointed if we lose the other aspects of the game.

Sept. 3 can't get here fast enough, GBO

24-hour news cycle puts more emphasis on star-power in recruiting, something that UF (I don't think) will ever lack. Superior athletes make it easier to forget about more important changes in the program.
It's okay, all these talking heads will totally switch the story after we win in Gainesville.

Cause they are Florida and they can recruit the top bust in the country

But they also have to recruit with a stout Florida state and Miami for those recruits. Florida is on a downward slope and recruits are taking notice. I'm close to one of the top RB recruits here in my area, he has been asked multiple times if Florida was still in the question. He has said no everytime.
Everyone wants to be on teams like LSU, Bama, and in this case, Florida State.

Wasn't last season Chizek's (sp) first season at Auburn?

Florida has a better chance of winning the East than Tennessee

I respectfully disagree. They have the talent, but there are learning a new offense, new defense, a new culture. Everyone harps on Tennessee's youth, but out youth isn't your typical youth. Almost all of these guys have significant experience from last year. Youth can't be an excuse. I understand that there is still a talent gap, but you can't play fast when you have to think, see Dooley's multiple statements about this.

I really don't see us finishing worst than third in the East. SC is the favorite, but they're, well...South Carolina. They get too much love as well. They won the East last year when it was waaaay down. The competition in the East isn't what hurts us this year, its playing those darn West teams.

Thanks, I couldn't remember. I really don't think there is a team that's done well with a completely new staff that lacked carryover from the preceding staff. But all mighty Florida will be even better this year, apparently.

I'm a Gators fan, and this is my first post, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say whoever wins the UF-UT game this year wins the East... Sounds crazy, but UGA is UGA; they will get owned by UF no matter who is behind center for the Gators, and I feel that Tennessee has a 50/50 shot against them too. USCe will screw up the usual 3-4 times a year. And well, UK and Vandy are UK and Vandy.

The Urban myth hasn't worn off in turdville yet. Reality will set in quick for them though.
