Florida...

I'm a Gators fan, and this is my first post, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say whoever wins the UF-UT game this year wins the East... Sounds crazy, but UGA is UGA; they will get owned by UF no matter who is behind center for the Gators, and I feel that Tennessee has a 50/50 shot against them too. USCe will screw up the usual 3-4 times a year. And well, UK and Vandy are UK and Vandy.

Certainly possible.

I'm not buying the South Carolina hype, their banner year involved 5 losses and getting pounded in the SECCG.

UGA better hope to God that Crowell produces something on the same level as Lattimore did last year or their offense is screwed.

Florida is Florida, talent all over the field, how do they take to the new schemes the staff has put in place?

UT, to me, is just too young to do it this year, next year though, watch out.

But they also have to recruit with a stout Florida state and Miami for those recruits. Florida is on a downward slope and recruits are taking notice. I'm close to one of the top RB recruits here in my area, he has been asked multiple times if Florida was still in the question. He has said no everytime.
Everyone wants to be on teams like LSU, Bama, and in this case, Florida State.

Miami = dead and Florida > FSU 95% of the time. Florida can still get top talent with a loaded Miami FSU because they are Florida. I hate 'em but it is what it is.

Can someone answer this: when was the last time that a top-level FBS team with a completely new coach and system did very well in Year 1? I'm sure it's been done, but I seriously can't remember it happening.

People seem to be giving Florida lot of love despite the mass changes that have occurred over the past three years. IIRC, there have been 3 DC in 3 years (IIRC), there is a new head coach, no running game to fit a pro-style attack, they lost the top cover-corner in America, and have a QB who, last season, looked worse than Cromp Daddy in the Clawfense. I understand that they have amazing talent, but there is no way that people should be giving them the love that is out there. Today on CBS Sports they predicted that Florida will be better than last year, which I find very hard to believe.

Frankly, I expect us to beat them this year. They may have more talent, but there have been a lot of changes. It will be a good measuring stick for us from a talent standpoint, but I will be very disappointed if we lose the other aspects of the game.

Sept. 3 can't get here fast enough, GBO

Who is giving Florida love? I've been a Florida fan for 30 years, now, and I am not particularly optimistic about this year. No Florida fan I know expects to win the SECe or to beat FSU. Kinda hoping for an Outback or maybe Citrus type bowl game, as best case scenario.

Ranked 22-23? Meh, whatever. To us, that's a sign of mediocrity. It isn't acceptable. but its the way it is right now. Hoping for better in the near future, maybe two years or so to be back at the top.

Really not sure where you are getting this Florida is getting too much love thing from.

TOP RB prospect in Maryville? Lol. If you say so. Florida State hasn't been on the lips of recruits, even in Florida, for quite a few years. They're doing better, no doubt. Considering we're projected for another top 5 recruiting class by every system, I think the downward slope comment maybe lost on those who know what they're talking about.

I don't get that either.

I just think they are obsessing about us too much. Like that if they beat us this year its meaningful. Setting up the "I always thought Florida was overrated" ploy.

Pretty weak, imo. Neither team is going to be relevant in the BCS, which in the end is all that should matter to these two schools.

Yes, top RB prospect. If you haven't noticed, we have put out some pretty good talent in recent years. Take a look at mr. Prevo who plays for the Rebels, in his freshman year he was one of the best we have around here.

This post is laughable on several levels. :eek:lol:

The bigger question is if UF even has this kid on their radar. Even with the loss of Blakely, UF has recruited well at RB, and we've got two very solid 4* RB commitments for 2012. Fred Taylor's kid is sitting out there in 2013, so yeah, Florida probably is not "still in the question" for the Maryville, TN tailback you're close to. :birgits_giggle:

Rivals has UF's class ranked #4...yeah, we're really slipping.

FSU has definitely stepped its game up, but Miami will be an afterthought in this state for a long time.

I'd be mildly surprised if UT won this year, but primarily because the game is in Gainesville. Florida doesn't enjoy a clear advantage this year really at any spot, save defensive line. While that is arguably the most important place to have an advantage, by itself it doesn't win much.

I think every Gator fan who isn't just a kool-aid drinking, jorts wearing, fanatic is waiting to see whether the offense shows any signs of life this year. Last year was such a letdown, especially in terms of what should have been a strong offensive line, that basically I need them to show me something solid before i have any confidence in them.

Well, next year IS the Vols best chance to beat UF by far. UF will have a new starting QB, and even though Driskel is being hyped by everyone and rightly so from his accomplishments in high school, Brantley was as well. UF SHOULD be favored this year because of the Swamp, a more experienced Brantley, and no injuries to skill players, like Demps or Debose (for now...)

Tennessee next year scares me as a UF fan. They scare me this year, but I'd be surprised if they indeed won in Gainesville a couple weeks from now.
