Football 2006 Better?

I'm pretty hopeful. Receivers-deep and talented. Backs-set. OL-solid. Linebackers and DL-major losses but capable replacements. DBs-deep and experienced. PK-great. Punter-young and promising. QB-talented, great as a frosh, confused as a soph. I think the new staff can get him making better decisions and using that rifle he's got attached to his shoulder in wiser ways.

But I'm a hopeful person

I'll remember this comment next time your trolling for Phil.

Why? I have said that numerous times in my posts.

Just another more selective memory by the babies who don't realize that even the Pro-Fulmer crowd isnt kissing his ass.

Danged appologists! Stop sugar coating it! We're gonna' suck next year. The only sure fire wins I see on the schedule are Air Force (is this game going to happen or not???), Marshall and Vandy. Kentucky is having a good recruiting year so I am not calling them a definite win at this point.

You have a lot of the intangibles going for you next year in terms of scheduling. Your first four games are at home. Also, only the Georgia and LSU games -- well into the season -- seems like those killer road game possibilities. Yeah, the South Carolina folks will taunt you, but again a game well into the season and I am one of those who does not believe that the 'cocks will be all that good next year.

The key is September 16. Florida. I expect the Gators will come in ranked in the Top Ten, maybe even the Top Five. If you can beat us, then that gives you what you did not have this year, which is confidence and optimism.

Realistically, I think you are a two loss team in the SEC. I do think Florida will win. And I think you will lose to Georgia. But I think you beat LSU and the 'cocks. Unfortunately, because the two losses I predict for you are to Florida and Georgia, that means you need them both to lose three SEC games and one of them will get by with less than that so I don't see you in the 2006 SECCG.

I'm thinking Gator Bowl or Capital One Bowl for you next year.

Sorry, you have LSU at home. My mistake. But I maintain that you beat them, anyway. And you also beat 'bama by the way.

I'm glad that I don't have to be around you negative people on a daily basis, it's depressing enough reading your posts.

The Vols will be better next year. Fulmer will be a better leader and not let the players get away with the stuff they did before and during the season this year. GO VOLS !!!!

Thanks to the solitary decent post in this thread. I'm with you Jenn. We will be good next year, and quite possibly great. Look at what happened after the last bad season. As for the assessment of the team: I agree that we'll be in good shape at the defensive back position, and it looks like there will be a lot of excitement at tailback. The lines will come together; I think Phil will step in and get a little more "hands-on" with the OL. Our linebackers will be a little on the inexperienced side, but should be fine (that always seems to be the case at UT). The receivers return a lot of experience, but very little in the area of playmaking and consistency. If we are to become a good football team, they will have to make strides in the spring and fall. I think Cut will get Ainge straightened out, and he should be very good as a junior. What does that leave. . . let's see. . . .Special Teams. I'm afraid to even comment, but a repeat performance of 2005 by them will cost us at least 2 close games.

All in all, I think we have a real shot at turning it around, contending for the SEC, and finishing in the top-10.

Time to get a new horse. The "Are we going to be better next year" horse has been beat down to nothing. Agree with JennVols. We will be better next year and sitting around being negative is not going to anything but get everyone worked up over and over and over and over again and again.....

Is this pic of your last vacation with some hot babes? Naw but really, we are going to better. SEC championship has eluded us for many years. Think with a couple of breaks we could be in contention. As Lawgator metioned, think we will have shot. If not, oh well, I'll be eating Kabobs with guys pictured in your pic. Don't think I or Kiddiedoc are sheep. Hopefully optimistic folks. Cuz the talent is there to contend. Always has been over last couple years.

It's just a joke. Nothing personal. I respect everyone's optimism so please everyone respect my pessimism.

Congratulations. You have solidified your position among the "worthless posters" on this board. All you do is spout negativity and hostility, while adding nothing of substance. Thankfully, there are only a few of you around, and a few have already been banned; otherwise, I wouldn't waste time logging on.

Your posts continue to justify your username, although you could leave out the "Volunteer" part and it would be more appropriate.

And, don't think for a minute that you calling me a "sheep" is going to sway my loyalty from my alma mater, my love for the Vols, or my hope for a turnaround in 2006. Not this Vol. And, certainly, not by the likes of you.

So keep up your pessimism and wrong-side-of-the-bed attitude. I'll be enjoying basketball.
