For De1conley

Did LWS actually say OC? Could be LWS just means that DeBord is going to be hired.

As of yesterday in regards to who is the next OC:
it will be DeBord. Something really crazy would have to happen in the next 48 hours to alter that IMO

I mean there is some room for things to change in that quote and maybe Larry could be wrong and Debord is just coming on as a QC assistant but he is very rarely off on anything.

Thanks, I wouldn't mind DeBord coming on board as a QC coach. Really hoping De1conley has the accurate info.

McKensie will go to Bama. Phillips will transfer to Florida. PW will go to Auburn, and Dobbs will end up at Georgia.

The Maryville High School team will all be offered scholarships, and Leb will have a preferred walk-on spot.

From my insider's magic 8 ball.

Hey, give me Quarles and I think we'd be set!

This could not possibly be further from the truth! GQ is a family man, and would never be good at being away from home like any RC must do.....

I'd guess that Butch, CZA, CTT, and the entire staff would consider themselves" family men" . Jmo

I remember one of the 1st things Fulmer said in his goodbye presser was he was a family man. Coaching in college and being a family man is still doable. Thousands of men have done it.

Thanks to all that responded to my question. That's along the lines of what I thought but didn't know if there was a clearly defined role. Seems open ended based on a team's needs. The off campus recruiting (or lack thereof) is an important distinction.

Thank you for calling LV on his crap. No CGQ would not be a good recruiting coordiator. Another reason he would not be is the fact he has never recruited kids to play college football in the SEC and LV would have a greenhorn RC at Tennessee go up against the best RC's in the country. Amazing logic there LV. Are you set on destroying VOLBALL?

Let me help you understand....it will not happen. CGQ does not want to, or feel a need to leave HS. He has what he wants and needs, and will not seriously consider not being at home each night anytime in the near future...JMO.

Update ???

Per Wes Rucker

We think DeBord is still the man to beat, as we mentioned earlier, but there are other names still out there.

North Carolina State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Matt Canada, Boise State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Sanford and USC offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Clay Helton are names that have popped up in the past two days, and we do believe Jones has genuine interest in all three of those coaches.

We haven’t been able to confirm any in-person meetings Jones might have had with any potential candidates other than DeBord, but he was expected to meet with at least one or two candidates Monday, and he spent at least a portion of Monday on the West Coast recruiting.

We know UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone also has been a name of interest, and we know that Tennessee at least did some background work on the veteran offensive coach, but we’re not aware of any potential meeting between the two Monday. We also know that Arizona co-offensive coordinators Rod Smith and Calvin Magee were names brought up on Day One of the search, but there just hasn’t been as much smoke about them the past few days. And obviously former Vols national championship quarterback Tee Martin is out on the West Coast, as well, as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at USC, but we’re not aware of any serious conversation between the two to this point.

As for non-West Coast guys, we don’t believe Marshall’s Bill Legg and Alabama wide receivers coach Billy Napier still are serious candidates for the position.

Cali recruiting visit to probably the most locked in and possibly the most committed recruit in the class, KM. Essential at this point? But it sure made it easier for coaches from Stanford, Boise State, Zona, and UCLA to meet with CBJ. ALSO, not the media glare of them flying into Knoxville where they can not go unnoticed flying into town. Easy for CBJ to get lost in the millions out in Cali for some private meetings with prospective OC unobserved. Keeps VN from having multiple panic attacks about the pro's and cons of every candidate like we did on UM guy. Butch gets it.

Per Hubbs

Tuesday brought logistical movement from head coach Butch Jones but no real movement in his search for an offensive coordinator.

Speculation grew Tuesday afternoon that Jones' search might be coming to a close on Wednesday, but Jones told Volquest.com that no such timetable is in place. Jones did stress that the process has been good for him to have "crystalized" what the Vols need in this move, what they must do to keep improving and how they must address deficiencies to improve.

"Tennessee has some really good choices, and it's a chance to get better," Jones said. "This is an exciting challenge."

The challenge continued Monday night and into Tuesday morning as Jones and a group from Tennessee interviewed a couple of West Coast candidates in Las Vegas.

On the West Coast, Boise State's Mike Sanford, UCLA's Noel Mazzone and USC's Clay Helton are all thought to be possible interviews as multiple sources indicated to Volquest that those three were coaches that Jones had some interest in.

On the East Coast, it's unclear who Jones might have spoken with. A couple of possible names are N.C. State's Mike Canada and UNC's Gunter Brewer. Both were names that Tennessee has explored over the last few days.

Mike DeBord is still very much in play, but it's also clear that Jones is being patient and doing his due diligence. According to multiple campus sources DeBord remains the leader but the interview process has challenged Jones to really explore and evaluate the best option - now and moving forward.

Per 247 on Azzanni

We’re not suggesting Tennessee wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator Zach Azzanni has been ruled out of contention for the Vols’ offensive-coordinator position, but we don’t believe he’s anywhere near a top candidate for the job. He wanted to be a candidate, obviously, but we just don’t have any indication that he’s been strongly considered.

Obviously, though, Jones very much wants to keep Azzanni. We believe it’ll take a nice raise and perhaps even a promotion of sorts — something like passing game coordinator — to get that done, but we believe it’s possible.

Azzanni has been linked to the head-coaching job at Central Michigan, but we’re not sure that job would pay more than the amount Azzanni could get to stay at Tennessee. And if you’re waiting to make a big move, you probably could pick better spots than that one.

We’re not sure what Azzanni will do, but we know he and Jones are very close, and there are some in and around the program who expect the two to find an agreement for at least next season. We’ve been told Azzanni still is keeping his options open, but we’re not aware of any offer he might have on the table at the moment that would be better than the one he’ll get at Tennessee.

For what it’s worth, don’t rule out the possibility of a promotion of sorts for Vols running backs Robert Gillespie, either. We’ve heard enough to believe that’s a possibility. Regardless, Gillespie, like most of Tennessee’s assistants, is due to receive a nice bump in compensation.

Honestly i don't know about CZA leaving but as far as recruiting goes i highly doubt it would chg much. What ppl don't know is P. Will is here not for Z but Swain. Swain found him before he blew up and he has loved UT every since. On the OC and Debord stuff. Anthony Parker is out as 1 of the quality control guys and I've heard that's what his role will be. He will assist with OL. Players and others have complained about Mahoney and he's really not got it done recruiting wise either. I'm suppose to hear from about 2 or 3 ppl tomorrow and I'll update once i get my calls.

About those phone calls...
