...Or would “pack it in” or otherwise took shots at this team when the chips were down...

This isn’t your win. This win is for those of us who stuck with this team. This win is for this team that never quits and has pulled out wins after the chips were down all year.

But it’s not for the fickle or the chicken littles or the football/basketball fans who only took notice because this team has had success, then you act like they owe you something. Because you don’t deserve it.

Just know that.

I would like to think that this was a vols win, whether fair weather fan or super fan. It’s nice to see any vol program have a win. And I’m sure there are plenty of battered vol fan syndrome people that were negative. As for me, I’m a football fan, that got into basketball because football team stunk, then when baseball started good last year I watched it. I have never planned my day around watching a college baseball game till today. That being said, I’m a VOL fan. And while I don’t agree with everyone’s post, if they still claim to bleed orange after all these years in the dumpster, who are you or anyone else to say they aren’t a fan and shouldn’t enjoy this win just as much as you.

I had something to do and had to quit watching right after the ground rule double in the top of the 9th. I about **** myself when I found out we won. And after coming home and being able to watch the ending I still about teared up. That was a hell of a defining moment in this season for UT baseball. Cant wait for game 3 tomorrow.

F them all. WGWTFA tomorrow also even if it does take 9 full innings to get lead.

Include Vol media in that group. I love CTV's post game press conferences. He gets a few digs in, but those guys that didn't play past Little League, need a tutorial on baseball 101. Or maybe it's just Moneyball syndrome.

The one guy asked Max and CTV why the bunt was even a consideration down by 2 with men on 1st and 2nd. Besides Max being the 2 hole hitter where your best bunter typically resides, you also want to stay out of the double play right there. Fergie even said, 2nd and 3rd and one out with Rucker coming up is still a good spot to be in. Kudos to the staff for giving Max the option. He got a pretty good pitch to hit in part because the bunt was expected. Bunt is 100% in play right there.

Same guy then asked him if he was gesturing towards Arkansas' bench when he rounded third and was he retaliating to Christian Franklin's celebration after his dinger. Come on man! it was for the fans on the 3rd base line and it's a shame that Max had to explain it to the dummy. Who gives out these press credentials?

Grow up. Stating a fact about one game in a series doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy the win or be a fan still. It’s not war, it’s college athletics.

The team kept fighting back after losing the lead. Instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they cut the lead to 1 twice before the 9th inning rally.

I thought allowing Ferguson to hit was the correct call before the HR. Tenn was struggling to stop Ark and playing for 2 runs and extra innings with them wasn’t a good idea. End it there, one way or another. And Ferguson did.

The word "choke" is used way too much. I don't think Friday's loss was a "choke" and if we had lost yesterday it wasn't a choke. Just because you're ahead and end up losing doesn't qualify it as a choke, especially when it's the best team in the country. There's a reason they are #1 and it's not because they give up after getting behind.

IMO a "choke" has to fit certain circumstances. It's a subjective thing but to me chokes have to do with having a rather large lead or in command with not much time left and a situation where if you just take care of business for the reminder of the time you win. Like if the Vols went into the top of the 9th up 5-0 Friday night and then gave up 6 runs and ended up losing....ok that would probably fit a choke. But being up 5-0 with 8 more innings....nope, you have the whole game left.

Examples of choke to me: Tennessee losing in the 2000 NCAAT Sweet 16 to UNC. In control the whole game, up about 8 with 4:00 to play and then didn't score again until about 30 seconds left and it was too late.

Another example of a choke has to do with not rising to the occasion when the situation favors you and you are the better team; the biggest example to me is the 2001 SEC Championship Games. Vols were #2 and a win over a good but not great LSU team we had already beaten puts us in the NC game. We were up a touchdown at the half and generally felt like we had the game in control and we flat out choked the second half.

I'm happy for anybody that has always faithfully followed UT baseball. I am not a baseball guy, but I happened to catch the ending of the game. It was exciting. I'm not a baseball guy but I am a UT guy, so I'm happy for the success. Let people enjoy the win, fairweather or not. It's great all around. Obviously it means more to diehard baseball fans, doesn't mean others can't be happy and enjoy the success though.

Regardless of why we are all celebrating the BaseVols, we are celebrating them. New fans are learning the virtues of baseball. Those of us who were there yesterday experienced a life long memory and epic moment. When Max got up to bat, I couldn’t help thinking the winning run is at the plate. This team is every bit as much of a never-say-die team as any you have ever seen. Thanks to CTV, Coach Anderson, and the other coaches. I hope Danny White was there and realizes this program deserves the same degree of commitment as football and basketball.

GBO! Now go out and bring home the series win!!
